Title: More Bad News for Ole Miss
Post by: Marshal Dillon on July 10, 2013, 08:44:21 PM
I guess the FB & BB teams are competing against each other in the stupid category.

Quote
Ole Miss cornerback Carlos Davis must sit out six games of the 2013 season and select practice time after he played six games of the 2012 season while academically ineligible, The (Jackson) Clarion-Ledger reported.

The reason he’s being punished and not the school is because Davis never told Ole Miss that the ACT was reviewing his test scores, which ultimately were thrown out. The school didn’t find out that the ACT and NCAA Eligibility Center were investigating Davis until this past April.

Ole Miss dodged a bullet in this case. Similar cases have resulted in vacated wins and  sanctions. The NCAA is consistently inconsistent.

The exact thought I had. Memphis gets murdered & Ole Miss skates free.

Ole Miss used the Cam Newton defense. They said they did not know he had not been cleared. Give me a break. Every college player in every sport has to be cleared through the NCAA Clearinghouse to be eligible.

You going to put a player on a College Football team without knowing everything about him and his grades. Sorry, I ain't buying this one. RTR!

These "ignorance is innocence" rulings are really setting a dangerous precedent.

Don't worry, that excuse won't help major programs like Alabama, Miami, Oklahoma, etc.
