Title: Basketball: Norris commits to Alabama Post by: pmull on August 05, 2013, 10:17:43 AM CAG got his attention by pulling the scholarship offer last week. He is a 6-7 combo forward who averaged 23 points and 12 boards as a junior at Albertville last year.
He is our second in state commitment for next year. Last week PG Justin Coleman committed. Quote Norris, a four-star recruit by Scout.com, committed to Alabama and head coach Anthony Grant over strong interest from UAB, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Mississippi State and a host of other schools. Last week Alabama pulled their scholarship offer, but following an unofficial visit this weekend, Alabama opted http://alabama.scout.com/2/1312996.html Title: Re: Basketball: Norris commits to Alabama Post by: ricky023 on August 05, 2013, 10:22:06 AM Well done coach. There is a way to get their attention and I guess sometimes you have to jar it a bit. RTR!

Title: Re: Basketball: Norris commits to Alabama Post by: pmull on August 05, 2013, 10:25:26 AM That is two 4 star in state recruits for the 2014 class. CAG is after several others. This could turn out to be a very good recruiting class.

We definitely need them.Title: Re: Basketball: Norris commits to Alabama Post by: Jamos on August 05, 2013, 07:25:37 PM I think it was a great recruit by CAG. This kid looks good in his video, especially shooting from the perimeter. It will also quiet some of the rumblings that are going around that Bama doesn't recruit white kids.

European guys don't count?Title: Re: Basketball: Norris commits to Alabama Post by: Jamos on August 05, 2013, 07:51:46 PM I think it was a great recruit by CAG. European guys don't count? One? UAH brought some teams to Coleman with nothing but instate white kids that played Bama to the final buzzer. A lot of folks wondered why Bama didn't recruit them. It's the same argument when there were no black kids on the team. Title: Re: Basketball: Norris commits to Alabama Post by: 2Stater on August 05, 2013, 08:03:47 PM The video on him really is impressive. It will be nice to have someone who is a little more consistent on the 3 pointer.

Bama improved on their outside shots at the end of last season and I'm hoping these guys come back and pick up where they left off. It's just a few days until they take their trip and I'm like pmull, this should add something to the team this year. We'll soon see. Title: Re: Basketball: Norris commits to Alabama Post by: pmull on August 06, 2013, 10:01:33 AM I like what CAG is doing. Since the season ended we have added JUCO transfer A. Key. I think this was done to help fill the void left my Lacey's departure. We have added two transfers that can practice but can not play this year. Just having these guys on the practice squad will help. We have also added two 4* commits for 2014. That is five new good players into the program.
We have a good non-conference schedule. I think players like Releford, Randolph and Cooper can help CAG get the players focused on coming out strong and winning most of those big early non-SEC games. I am really excited about the opportunity the trip to Europe gives us to practice, play and gel as a team. I am looking forward to seeing what kind of shape Jacobs is in to start the year and what the addition of new inside players Hale and Taylor can offer. We really need better inside rebounding and scoring this year. Title: Re: Basketball: Norris commits to Alabama Post by: pmull on August 06, 2013, 10:07:37 AM ESPN has our 2014 recruiting class of two players rated the #9 recruiting class. This could get better since there are a couple of more top 100 players on CAG's radar.

Just look at Kentucky. The tradition-rich programs can't keep them for 2 years, much less four. Releford would like nothing more than to have a big season as this is his last at Bama. If they can get out of the gate on a positive note, this could be a very special season for them as the newcomers get better as the season grows. I really don't see any attitude problems with the players coming back and that is a plus. Title: Re: Basketball: Norris commits to Alabama Post by: pmull on August 06, 2013, 09:00:53 PM Devin Mitchell of Suwanee, GA will announce where he will play college ball at 3:00 tomorrow. He plays AAU ball with Coleman and Norris. He is a 6-3 SG and a 4 star recruit. This looks good for us. He has offers from UGA, Cincinnati, Memphis, K State and UAB.

He is being recruited by a lot of schools but it is coming down to UGA and Bama. He played AAU ball with Coleman, Norris and Mitchell. They said early in the recruiting process they wanted to play college ball together. If we get Lee along with Coleman and Norris we will get the top 3 in state players along with the # 4 Georgia player. All are 4* top 100 players according to most recruiting sites. He had some good recruits at the last school but I just thought he might have good ones here. So maybe this is a sign of things to come. RTR!
