Note the termination clause in his contract.

He'll be doing football games for ESPN this year, not Ohio State.  ;)

If OSU wants to fire him these documents are a smoking gun. I don't think OSU has any intention of letting him go. The LOI did not site Lack of Institutional Control or Failure To Monitor. I think the NCAA will slap them on the wrist a little harder than OSU did to themselves and I think some or all of the 2010 wins will be vacated. After all all the smoke settles I think sweatervest keeps his job.

Best thing for the SEC (and Nebraska) is Tressel stays at OSU, they stay in disarray, and the NCAA hammers them with scholly limitations and such.

I don't disagree with your reasoning for him staying, but if OSU gets hammered from the NCAA the way I think they will, I think he goes.

Also, if I think it depends on when the NCAA hands down their decision.

Oh, definitely they're in a conundrum.  The idiot Prez doesn't want to do anything.  The alums are split on what they want.  Tressel is so egocentric that he'll stay as long as he can.  They're screwed.

I agree, he probably will step down eventually (6 months?  a year?) if they get the hammer.  But who will fire him?

He may just have to quit, or OSU may have to hire someone to fire him.

His contract states if he lies, fails to report possible violations, etc., he can be fired. They better fire him now and save themselves a whole bunch of money.

I don't think anybody at OSU has the ... cojones.

I may be wrong but I expect OSU and Tressel to not get hit too hard by the NCAA. They did not accuse them of "Lack of Institutional Control" or "Failure To Monitor". Histroically those are the two charges that carry the heavy penalties.

OSU has every reason to let him go and they have not done it yet. I don't think they will. IMO they are going to weather the storm with him.

Hey Chechem I don't think he will ever step down. I don't think he will loose his job unless it becomes a last resort to save the University. RTR!
