Title: SEC Basketball Confusion
Post by: Marshal Dillon on August 14, 2013, 12:57:12 PM
I'm somewhat confused. How is the SEC BB schedule determined, by drawing lots, flipping a coin, what? Does this mean we might not play Auburn, LSU, or Miss. State twice a season since they are probably our biggest rivals in BB?

Tennessee won't have a home game against Kentucky for the first time in over six decades.

The two former SEC Eastern Division rivals aren't guaranteed to play each other twice every season anymore because the conference no longer is divided into two divisions for basketball. Kentucky was one of the five conference opponents Tennessee played twice last season, but that won't be the case this year.

This is how I understand the new SEC scheduling format.

We have one rivalry team we will play twice (home & home) and that is the barn. We play every other team once with home games rotating each year. So we play everyone once plus the barn twice is 14 games. We play 4 random teams a second game. Last year we played Miss State, UT, LSU and UGA twice.

There is no more East and West.

It could get interesting when we play UK and Florida twice in a season.

It could be a warm up for the big tourney. When we beat them both then the eyes shall come open for us. RTR!
