Title: Rude Police at Georgia Dome
Post by: jtide on September 03, 2013, 12:11:35 PM
My family and I had three separate instances of police being rude at the game.  My brother bought a beer inside the concert area at the park.  On the way out, apparently you could not carry your drink out.  The officer with a rude tone told him that if he walked out with that beer he was going to jail.  I thought maybe a "sir, you cannot carry drinks outside of concert area" would suffice.  At the game when walking back to my seat with some food I stopped in an opening to catch one play, an the officer rudely told me to clear the area!  Also, in the CNN center while trying to find somewhere to sit and eat we were rudely told to get away from the stairs.  I'm fine with following and obeying rules and laws, but I'm not fine with the tone and way we were all talked to at different times.  You would think as much money as we fans bring to the dome area we would at least be given a little common respect and courtesy.  Anybody else wanna vent?

Send a copy to the editorials at Atlanta Constitution.  The police are costing the city $$.

The police were just doing their jobs.  I doubt they're excited about seeing an extra 100k people they have to serve and protect.

A lot of times, the police are moonlighting, working these events, where they are paid separately by the event holder. It's not something they have to do. In this case, though, it may be the City of Atlanta and they may not have a choice. At any rate, there is no reason for them to be rude. Many of them are, however. Law Enforcement attracts people of that nature, unfortunately, as well as the good guys like me.  8)

I support and appreciate our law enforcement doing their jobs, but I do not believe that being rude is in the job description.  Oh well, I just wanted to a little, and I was curious if anyone else had a similar experience.

As Dr. Lecter said they were likely just doing their jobs.  Also, like 2Stater said, that job tends to attract people with that type of personality.  Just be glad it wasn't a female cop.  Those are the absolute worst of the worst attitude wise...

Well, I think what ends up happening is that they've been nice to a few knuckleheads that don't listen to nice, so now they just say things forcefully/rudely from the get go.
