If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend. It's about a platoon in Afghanistan and a fire position they set up. Anyone know any other good documentaries? Specifically war. I just downloaded "why we fight" but I havent watched it yet. Title: Re: Restrepo Post by: XBAMA on March 05, 2011, 09:40:33 PM thanks for the heads up , love those kind of films
Generation Kill was one of the last movies I found myself not missing a episode I am going to check this one out and the other one you mentioned too . with a son and a daughter in law that were over there I had to back off those type shows made the wife uneasy but they are both home now so she has no excuse . Title: Re: Restrepo Post by: ssmith general on March 06, 2011, 06:15:39 AM When Capt. Kearney was taking over the platoon, the old captain was giving him an update and told him that they took fire everyday. Capt. Kearney said "why in the hell are you letting them come down here and shoot at you everyday". Thats when they set up fire base restrepo. Restrepo was the medic who was killed. Watch this documentary.

They gave their all for our country as did all Veterans but that place brings out reality. I think everybody that speaks against Vets should be made sit over there all day one day. RTR!

Why We FIght is a classic documentary by Frank Capra in WWII. Try these: World at War Victory at Sea World War II in Color The Korean War in Color The Civil War by Ken Burns This is just the very tip of the iceberg, but these are some of the best. Just watch the Military channel, 287 on Direct TV. Well said, ricky. I assume that since you go to the VA for treatment that you are a vet yourself. When and in what branch did you serve? Love your avatar, too, by the way. Ken Burns is the best CW narrator there has ever been, IMO. The man is sincere and really gets into it. Great documentary that really shows the emotional effects of war on the soldiers.
