AJ McCarron trusted with decision-making role within Alabama offense, not afraid to suggest plays
(http://media.al.com/alabamafootball_impact/photo/alabama-football-vs-va-tech-2013-18333761jpg-2438d5c85ebfd9b3.jpg)AJ McCarron grows increasingly comfortable in Alabama's offense in his third year as the Crimson Tide's starter. Former offensive coordinator and Colorado State coach Jim McElwain sees this when watching Alabama game film.

Quote
McCarron was 4-for-5 passing on the following drive including the perfectly-thrown back-shoulder pass to Kevin Norwood for a 22-yard touchdown.

"I think he was really confident because everybody was focused," left tackle Cyrus Kouandjio said. "We had to have that type of focus in that type of environment. We practiced for two weeks. Everything just clicked. He's been here for so long and he's done so much for this program, you know, he has that trust factor. He knows what he's doing."

Coach Nick Saban said it's not as much a matter of McCarron changing plays at the line. He's given a package that includes different variations and it's up to him to put the team in the best situation based on the defensive look. ...

Good insights into play calling and AJ's maturity as a QB.

So...someone with more football knowlege than me...

Please give an idea into AJ's prospects at the next level.

Does he get drafted? If so, what round?

It seems like he has all the leadership qualities, but doesn't seem to be able to make all the throws with consistency that are required at the next level. He definitely seems to be a better pro prospect that McElroy and even Brodie, but doesn't seem to be getting a lot of love in the NFL discussion.  All we hear from the talking heads is "game manager", but all I see is "WINNER"

I heard something on ESPN the other day, maybe from Trevor Matich, that he thought AJ was a solid first rounder.

Wow! Had not heard that.  Heard Bridgewater, Boyd, and even JFF.  Wouldn't it be ironic if the Browns drafted AJ after dishing MFBATR?

AJ is a great QB for our system, and I think he'll be successful in the NFL.
But I don't expect him to be drafted until Rd 2 or later.  Mobility is a necessity these days in most systems, and AJ has good footwork, but not much "escapability".

Here's a web site for NFL projections.  They say Round 2 (#44) for AJ: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings

Oh, Lord, please don't let AJ go to Cleveland!

He has come a long way since that little spanking from years ago.

Thanks for the info. Projecting 3 first rounders and 2 in the top 10 again!

I see they put JFF 2 ahead of AJ. I just can't see that happening, I don't care how many heismans' he wins. RTR!
