Title: Week 4 Poll
Post by: SUPERCOACH on September 22, 2013, 12:23:19 AM
The poll is ready:  Click here for link (http://www.crimsonredsports.com/index.php?page=pollenterballot;poll=3;week=4)

Where should we put Bama?  I think there are several teams that could beat us right now.  Fortunately we don't play any of them any time soon.

Technically, I think we are #1 until somebody knocks us off, but I'm going to put the Quackers ahead of us this week. At this point in time, I think LSU is probably better than us too, but they will get their chance later on, so I'll put them at #3. I hope to have us back at #1 after next week's resounding thrashing of Ole Miss.

I'm not moving Oregon ahead of us until they play someone.  Remember our performance against Georgia State a couple of years ago, right before we crushed everyone else and won the NC?  Remember Western Kentucky last year?
I'm concerned, but not worried.  Ole Miss will challenge us on both offense and defense.  But expect us to shut down their running and make them live by the pass (lots of short throws, and several to Vinnie -  :lol2: ).  Bring 'em.

I can't drop us yet just because of a lackluster win. Could several of the teams in the poll beat us? Perhaps, but my philosophy has always been that the No. 1 team stays the No. 1 team until they are beaten.

That's an entitlement mindset CB.  No room for that in the process.

Mark May made an excellent point last night.  He said out of all the top teams, our win over Texas A&M was by far the most impressive win by a top team.

We are spoiled. We did not play our best and still won 31-6. We are never happy. Some are saying LSU is playing better than us but we would not have been happy with a 14 point win over a barn team that is rebuilding and does not have a defense or QB.

Bama # 1 in my poll.

I'm keeping Bama at No. 1 for now.  The team is showing immaturity, playing to the level of the competition, but the talent is there.  There remain question marks at OL and DB, three games into the season.  The win in College Station was impressive.  Ole Miss game should provide some more answers, see if this team has what it takes.

LSU looks good.  Next week's game versus Georgia should be a better measure than Auburn.

Oregon hasn't played anyone.  I was impressed with Stanford this week -- whoever wins the game between those two teams might be in the BCSCG.

No one from the Big10 belongs in the discussion.

No one from the Big12 belongs in the discussion.

Clemson and Florida State both look good, but I wouldn't put them ahead of Bama.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with pmull that our players are quite spoiled and think they are entitled, and if they keep up said mindset they WILL be beaten (probably more than once, starting Ole Miss this weekend). But until those losses happen, I can't drop them. To me, Oregon hasn't proven anything yet, other than they can beat a bad UT team. LSU, now, is a different matter, and I think they are probably #2, in my opinion.

Well I am taking the pressure off because this week 2 teams beat better teams than we played. It breaks my heart but I moved us to #3 and if these guys read any of this site maybe they will see it is not going to be handed to them and the media is a crock of bull. They need to get their eyes off the Media. RTR!
