Title: SEC BB Tourney Move Helps Teams with More BB Centric Schools
Post by: Marshal Dillon on October 17, 2013, 12:16:56 PM
Who was the moron who picked St. Louis to host the Tourney? That's not close to anyone except Missouri fans. What a disaster.

The SEC announced Tuesday that it plans on making Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena the semi-permanent home of the conference’s men’s basketball tournament. Why is it semi-permanent? Because the conference has already awarded several upcoming years to Atlanta (2014, 2020), Saint Louis (2017) and Tampa (2018), to go along with previously-established plans for Nashville to host in 2015, 2016 and 2019./quote]

I like the tourney in Nashville. Call me old fashioned but basketball needs to be played in an arena and not in a dome.

Tampa is farther away from most SEC schools than St. Louis, which is pretty close to Kentucky and Vandy, as well as Mizzou.  It is a 6 1/2 hour drive from Huntsville -- I've made that drive many times.  They probably picked St. Louis for one year when Mizzou joined the conference.   Nashville seems like the best location though.

I considered adding Tampa with St. Louis, but at least Tampa has the ocean, plus I have been to Sarasota on a couple of occasions and loved it. Nashville is a good location.
