Title: Hurt: Lacey further cements Grant's credibility
Post by: pmull on May 19, 2011, 11:12:55 AM
'Coach Grant just said that if you've got everything you want at home, why go somewhere else?' - Trevor Lacey.

That sounds like such a simple formula for recruiting. It was one that worked to perfection for the University of Alabama as it managed to land Trevor Lacey, the nation's best late-period basketball recruit and, according to most analysts, one of the top 30 overall players in the country in this class.

Lacey could have gone anywhere in the country - his finalists included two of the nation's elite program, Kansas and Kentucky. But Anthony Grant was able to convince Lacey that Alabama - which cannot match the basketball tradition at those two schools - could match their potential for winning. Then, and only then, did it become a case of 'Sweet Home Alabama.'

Cecil as most always, did a good job on this article. I am one who thinks CAG is more credible now than when hired but, taking this talent and getting some depth for some rest, for players will be another thing.
We need that outside shooter than can hit the homerun ball that wins games. I would even go so far as to say he needs to be that player that takes over in the 2nd half and turns momentum around. Similar to our players of the past.
We are on the climb yet maybe still one step from the top of the mountain, that somewhat Top 10 ranking but it could be coming sometime soon. RTR!
