Post by: Marshal Dillon on October 28, 2013, 12:31:35 PM
I forgot to post this earlier so if it's already been posted, I apologize. This case is so incredible it is hard to fathom.

You just have to wonder, what in the world goes through somebody's mind to make them do that?

I have read some follow-up stories that Ms. Pollard had some unreal type of control over her son, Donta. The whole family is nuts in my opinion.

The Donte Pollard & his momma situation just gets crazier. Read the link, very interesting.

Quote
Assistant U.S. Attorney John Dowdy disclosed the plea offer in court Monday after a jury was selected for Jesse Pollard's trial. Dowdy said the government considered a deferred prosecution for Devonta Pollard if his mother would plead guilty.

U.S. District Judge William Barbour said the deferred prosecution would have meant that the government would have dismissed the indictment against Devonta Pollard if he stayed out of trouble for two years.

Jesse Pollard said she didn't consider that a valid offer, because it would help her son, but she would still face 20 years in prison under the deal./quote]

In other words her son can go to the penitentiary with her and she does not care.

I bet she gets 15 years in federal prison.

Jesse Mae Brown Pollard showed little emotion when she was convicted in U.S. District Court in Jackson on all three counts — conspiracy, kidnapping and obstruction. She faces 20 years to life in prison at sentencing, set for Feb. 18.
