 Well, it looks like I have been talked into to doing the Crab Trap Triathlon in Destin, Fl. The race is in October. I am looking for a place to stay, and a place to possible to watch the Alabama Vandy Game (depending on game time). As far as a place to stay, I am wanting something: near the race, clean, comfortable and cheap. It does not have to be anything "Posh" by any stretch, but I dont want a "Roach Motel" either. My plan would be to drive down Friday, spend the night, race Saturday morning, and either hang out for a little whuile or drive straight back. I do not plan on spending the night Saturday night because I have duty at the FD Sunday. Dunno yet if the family is coming down or not. But right now I would prolly say "not." The more important thing, where to watch the game? If it is a morning, or early afternoon game, I'll prolly try to catch it in Destin. Late afternoon or evening, I'll wait until I get home. Any ideas on where in Destin to catch a Bama game?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the game is not PPV, you won't have any trouble catching it, either in your hotel room or at any bar along there. I don't think there are any more roach motels in Destin that I know of and most hotels there are not real pricey unless it's a higher caliber pacle on the beach.

I have stayed at the Best Western Ft Walton Beach recently. It is very close to the Crab Trap, I assume that is where the race is. Last year you could get a non-beach front room for about $140.00 a day. It's not fancy but it is clean and pretty nice. They have the free breakfast stuff. I would stay there again.

Also there is bound to be an alumni chapter there, that has a regular bar for ballgames. Google.

Thanks peeps. Best Western sounds just right. I only need quiet low key, and preferably a ground floor room. ( No I don't have a $5K + tri bike. But what I do have is mine, and I want to keep it that way, so the bike will stay in my room with me.)
