Title: Belmont Beats UNC in Basketball
Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 17, 2013, 10:50:31 PM
This is a sister college of Birmingham-Southern in Nashville.

J.J. Mann had rehearsed hitting a game-winning shot so many times before. When the ball came his way late against No. 12 North Carolina, the senior didn't squander the chance to give Belmont a stunning road upset./quote]

Mann finished with a career-best 28 points, with the last basket giving the Bruins an 81-80 lead. Then, after a missed shot from UNC's J.P. Tokoto, Caleb Chowbay scored on a breakaway layup with 0.2 seconds left that sent Belmont players rushing onto the court to celebrate at the horn./quote]

College basketball is a different game anymore and some of these no name schools are very good. I remember when Belmont played Bama at Coleman and had nothing but a bunch of white boys and everyone thought the game would be a very easy one, wrong. Those white boys could jump and shoot and almost won the game in a nail biter.

Good for Belmont. Belmont's Director of Basketball Operations is Tyler Holloway of Decatur. He was a three point machine at Austin High School. Austin make it to the Final Four in 6A his senior year. He was a three year starter for Murray State in collage and averaged double figures. I still see his occasionally. His Mother lives right around the corner from us. He is doing pretty good in basketball for a 6'-0" white boy.
