Title: Highly Rated Hueytown QB Tired of Recruiting Process
Post by: Marshal Dillon on May 26, 2011, 09:57:48 PM
I wonder how much Auburn will offer him to sign there. I have to think the sky's the limit with Auburns checkbook for this guy.

Everyone wants to know everything about Jameis Winston right now.

That goes for college football coaches, Internet bloggers
representing insatiable message-board millions and old-fashioned reporters.

The Hueytown rising senior is rated the nation's No. 2 quarterback by several services. The baseball prospect is a potential high draft pick in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.

If he's rated that high in baseball, recruiting him for football is a waste of time and money.

I think he's a football guy first.  He'll play baseball if he can't find a good fit.

It just seems that when Bama recruits one of these highly rated baseball players, baseball wins.

That's what I thought. If he goes in the first round of the MLB draft, you're talking millions of dollars in a signing bonus. If he is a Top Ten pick, his bonus will be $2 to $6 mil. Not bad for an 18 year old kid from Hueytown.

Goodness, I have to ask why would he even think of coming to Alabama Football with that much money at his option? I don't how hard baseball Spring Practice is, but I bet it don't come near what CNS brings out of you during the Spring. RTR!

I'm waiting for a "fan" to state how it would be much better for him to sign with the Tide and get the college experience instead of signing with baseball for big money. I guarantee you, someone out there will think that.

I'd love to see him rolling with the Tide if his heart is on the football field but I'd have to question his intelligence if he passed up first round bonus money to play college football instead of pro baseball.

"Think of this, Mr. QB.  Play football and you choose.  Play baseball and you're shipped to any team that bids highest (Seattle, Montreal, Detroit).  THINK."
