Quote
Late Monday, ESPN 300 offensive guard Viane Talamaivao (Corona, Calif./Centennial) decommitted from Alabama and gave a verbal pledge to the Trojans.

Talamaivao's father, Chris, confirmed the commitment.

Quote
Chris Talamaivao said the decommitment had nothing to do with any dissatisfaction with the Crimson Tide. Talamaivao, the nation's No. 105 prospect, recently returned from his official visit to Alabama and said he loved it. But as he sat in the stands during USC's home win against then-No. 4 Stanford on Saturday night, the reality of moving across the country hit home.

Well that will open up a little room for someone probably ranked better than 105. Just hate it was an OL.

Bummer.  But very understandable.
USC seems to be turning their program around faster than anyone expected.

It didn't hurt that they got rid of their Kiffin problem.

Still the most-clever idea yet:

Indeed!

I wonder if Orgeron has any chance at the HC job at USC? I know he wasn't successful at Ole Miss, but he did recruit some pretty good talent there. I'm guessing he's learned some things along the way. I would think, though, that it's Del Rio's if he wants it.

I've met Orgeron.  He's a big-ole blubbering jock.  I don't think he has a prayer, despite some good work turning them around.

Yeah, you can see that any time he is interviewed. Not exactly a rocket surgeon.  :lol2:

I have to agree with you on this, I've heard he has some anger management problems as well. :dunno:

Orgeron is a good recruiter -- he knew how to keep this kid in California.

I don't know what will happen with Del Rio -- he is Denver Bronco's interim head coach, as the head coach has heart problems.  He has options in the NFL.

USC has one more year on their sanctions, including scholarship reductions.  So if Del Rio doesn't take the job, it could be they keep Orgeron around for another year.  USC is in a tough spot -- fans and players love Orgeron now, so even though the powers-that-be may not want him permanently, he's like a tick that has latched on.

He decided to stay home and play for USCw. I think he made a good choice. Alabama is a long way from home. Some kids can handle it and others can not. Playing OL at Alabama normally means a redshirt year and two more years of sitting on the bench before you get meaningful playing time. I would rather him go elsewhere than sign with us and transfer in two years.
