Quote witnesses said Mills began smoking a cigarette in a non-smoking area of the bar, which prompted an argument with the bar's owner, Chris Ferrell. Those witnesses said Mills and Ferrell were friends. Ferrell told police he shot Mills in self-defense. Authorities are investigating those claims. Ferrell has a valid handgun carry permit. He was a senior, #86 a tight end, 6'3" 210#. Strangely, he was not listed on the 1990 or 1989 roster.

When it comes up again, one is dead and the other will at least face a life of regret for having shot his friend, and at worst may be thrown in prison for manslaughter. All this because of a gun the bar owner bought for protection. How ironic and how sad.

He was a senior, #86 a tight end, 6'3" 210#. Strangely, he was not listed on the 1990 or 1989 roster. ??? I googled him earlier today. I had never heard of him. He played two years of JUCO baseball at Wallace State in Hanceville. After that he walked on at Alabama. You rarely sat through a show without learning that he was an Alabama man. He had a lot of Bama in him.
