Title: Bo Pelini Arrogance Knows No Bounds
Post by: Marshal Dillon on November 29, 2013, 05:20:14 PM
This guy never ceases to amaze, he basically is giving the Husker fans and everyone else the finger since he knows he has a giant contract. Amazing!

Quote
["If they want to fire me, go ahead," Pelini told reporters after the Cornhuskers' 38-17 loss to Iowa on Friday to finish the regular season 8-4. "I believe in what I've done. I don't apologize to you. I don't apologize to anybody, myself or this staff. My record, our record since I've been here, speaks for itself. And this program is heading in a good direction.

Though Pelini is 57-24 at Nebraska, his performance has been heavily scrutinized in the wake of bad losses to UCLA and Minnesota.

Nice to know he's so satisfied going basically 8-3 on average over the 7 years. Truly a great record.

You know I think all these other coaches saw CNS do what he has done to straighten out Media people and now they all think they are big daddy on campus. When coaches sit there and say something about fire, because I'm letting you know it is all about the money. These guys need to go bad to grade school and relearn the Word Class. It seems they have all forgotten how to do it the right way. RTR!

If Nebraska doesn't get rid of him then they deserve everything that they get from him. He should have been fired long ago.

^THIS^

They should suck it up and find another coach.

I agree, Bro Ricky. It seems CNS has a way about him when he deals with the press that garners respect Pelini, on the other hand is combative and arrogant and creates anger.

$7.6 million is just too high a mountain for them to climb, I bet. Most programs can not afford to throw that kind of money away. Nebraska is not the money machine it was 15 years ago. Maybe if wealthy boosters step in they would fire him. He is definitely a problem child.

I've always thought he was sort of nutty and he keeps on validating it

I actually don't have a problem with what he said even in light of the loss.  He obviously hears the war drums beating for his firing.  The media shoves it in his face too I'd bet.  It gets old and given the same situation I feel that most of us would react in a similar manner.

He has always had a short fuse. It has been the focus of a lot of media attention this year and the powers that be realize that he is now a recruiting liability. I think he's gone.

"Last coach with comparable lack of composure with refs and media was Bob Knight. He won three national titles. And still got fired."

Strongly disagree. He his paid a huge salary to win, which he is not doing. How many other coaches have you heard talk like this? It's called class, dignity, and not having such a thin skin. The guy is a total jerk and a**hole. If he wants the criticism to stop, then do better than going 8-4 in the season.

I understand that.  However, it is Nebraska and they should be used to 8-4 seasons by now.  Would he be in hot water if next year he pulls out a 9-3 season?  :dunno:

Well, it looks like he is safe……..for now. I bet the money is the hang-up on dumping him.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Bo Pelini is safe at Nebraska, at least for now.

The embattled sixth-year coach received a statement of support Saturday from first-year athletic director Shawn Eichorst in the wake of a 38-17 loss to Iowa at Memorial Stadium to end the regular season

Quote
Pelini, 45, is 57-24 since his arrival at Nebraska in 2008. His teams won nine or 10 games in each of his first five seasons. Nebraska sits 8-4 as it awaits a bowl bid Dec. 8

Yeah, but no conference championships or major bowl wins. Plus, he has lost 4 games in each of his 6 seasons.

It's hard to fire a 9 win coach for $7.6 million even if he is a jerk.

If he never lost a game I would still be thankful he isn't our coach  :lol2:

I don't think Nebraska hired him to win 9 games a year. He would be a king at UAB, Duke, Vandy, etc., at Nebraska he is very average.
