Title: Win and lose with class
Post by: bama87 on November 30, 2013, 09:32:52 PM
To the people blowing up Cade Foster's twitter page, grow up. Remember we have to lose with as much class as we do when we win. These are kids playing a game they love. Yes the loss hurts but we do get to play again. Some teams don't.

Personally,  I do not have Twitter or even Facebook, but Foster is NOT a "kid." He is a 22 year old man. Other people of that age are cops, paramedics, & soldiers. I was a soldier when I was 22 and I was no kid.
Foster choked big time the first time we really needed him. He also choked in the 2011 LSU game.

Not to beat on Foster, but I cannot believe we can't recruit a quality kicker! Or develop one.

He was a big deal when we recruited him.  So is the next guy, Griffen.  Maybe we should have given Griffen a shot earlier on one of the shorter, makeable tries.  The 57 yarder was not a bad kick at all, it is just a low percentage play.  He was about 2 yards short and 2 yards to the right.

Just asking, who is our kicking coach?

Might want to try Wooly AL for this tip.

Don't get me started or I will end up typing a 6 page response & rant.

The loss wasn't totally on the kicker.  Receivers dropped passes.  OL were offsides.  Defenders couldn't stop Auburn.  Coaches made questionable calls.  It was a team loss.

Bama does not have a kicking coach per sey, they do have a coach for the special teams though. I think the kickers go to off season kicking camps to improve their kicking.

Prior to yesterday he has only missed 1 opportunity all year. But you could tell with his first attempt something was not quite right with him. The only question I would have for the whole game was even with him not kicking well why did we not kick a short field goal instead of going for it on 4th down. That would have pushed the lead to two scores and probably won the game for us.

Foster nailed the field goal that was taken off the board due to a penalty on the OL. There is plenty of blame to go around but it is childish to do so. Foster is a member of the most successful senior class to ever play at Alabama. This is a team game. We need to get off Foster's back and support our team with class.

Obviously Foster is not the only reason for the loss, but he is the most visible. Lots of plays could have been the difference both on offense and defense. That said, over the course of a season a kicker will score a lot of points and, most likely, have an opportunity to win a game. Seems smart to devote a lot of attention to the kicker.

The bottom line is this, despite all the mistakes & poor coaching decisions, HE could have changed all of that with ONE, JUST ONE field goal. He completely choked and that more than anything or anyone else cost us the game. He had plenty of chances to win the game and he didn't. Facts and reality are a cruel teacher.

It was combination of errors made..coaches decisions...penalties..I agree Foster is not a kid, I like you was a soldier at that age...actually became one at 18..and did not consider myself a kid.Brighter days are ahead..and valuable lessons will be learned from all of this.

I had served my country and was back home by the time I was 22. As far as anyone choking, we had alot of dropped balls, missed blocks, missed assignments, and missed kicks. For any individual to point out Foster as the reason for our loss is showing a real immature attitude

FACT:  Foster made one that would have won the game but it was taken off the scoreboard because of a stupid penalty.  Kickers are important, but it is a team game.  The kicker doesn't even get a shot at a field goal unless the offense stalls.
