Title: Whither Goest the Tide?
Post by: cbbama99 on November 30, 2013, 10:02:37 PM
Alright guys, it was the thought that I had hoped to avoid considering, but now I have to. Where will the Tide end up this bowl season? I have seen a few people already penciling in the barn for the BCS NC game, but I think that is a little premature. My thought is that those who vote in the human polls finally have the situation they have wanted for several years now: the top team in the SEC having a late season loss. Despite the fact the barn has beaten us, A&M, and UGA, I personally think undefeated FSU and undefeated tOSU play for the title. Is there any scenario in which the Tide could still make a BCS game, or is it more likely that we are looking at the Cotton or whatever they call the Citrus Bowl?

After today's performance, we will be lucky to make it to Shreveport.

I hope not the Cotton, but it is at Jerry's House. With luck maybe the orange.

We still have a long shot.  Auburn has a pretty good shot.  OSU still has to play Michigan State next week, and could very well lose that game.  FSU has to play Duke and will likely win easily unless Jameis gets suspended this week.  The winner of the Missouri/Auburn game will be the first one in if OSU loses.  Alabama will likely be the second one in if FSU and OSU lose next week.

Most likely we will go to the Sugar Bowl with the SEC champ playing FSU for the national championship.

If OSU and FSU go to championship game then SEC champ goes to Sugar. Could the Sugar pick Bama for a possible rematch?

Now that would be something.  I have not thought about that possibility.  It would certainly be a sell out.

I think you are correct that SEC Champ might end up at the Sugar Bowl.

I also think Bama will be in a BCS Bowl Game.

However, the way picks work, it is highly unlikely that there is a rematch.

CBS is projecting Bama v. Clemson in the Orange Bowl.  http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/bowls/predictions

And this guy is projecting the SEC winner to the BCSCG (over OSU) and Bama to the Sugar Bowl v. UCF.

I still don't believe they will leave out an undefeated major conference winner for a one loss SEC winner. Lots of SEC fatigue around the country and ESPN has got to be salivating over two big name programs like FSU and OSU.

No one is salivating over another blowout like last year, which is what most think will happen if OSU plays FSU.

You guys are assuming OSU is going to win next week.  I say it is 50/50 at best, especially after the way they played today.

Bama should definitely get a BCS Bowl.  We will be #4 at worst.

I'm not assuming that.  Michigan State is much better than Michigan this year.  It will be interesting to see what Vegas thinks.

I don't see Duke beating FSU, but the ball is bouncing their way this year.  If JW is charged, all bets are off.

Bama probably will be either the Sugar Bowl or Orange Bowl, BCS #3 or 4.

Too bad no playoff this year, or we might have a rematch.

The barn/Mizzou winner is sitting in a good spot with only one loss. I think FSU will beat Duke but Ohio State will have their hands full with Mich St. If OSU wins I think they will back their way into the championship game with the weakest schedule ever. If that happens Barn/Mizzou winner to the Sugar. We will most likely go to the Orange.

If OSU losses the barn/Mizzou winner goes to the championship game and we go to the Sugar.

There is no way the SEC will not be a two bid BCS league. I don't see them passing over us with one loss to take a two loss team in the barn/Mizzou loser or USCe.

I agree with you pmull. That a fair assessment.

I at this moment hope Auburn goes to the NCG. Reason: Well that means the national championship has not left Alabama in a bunch of years. RTR!

It would be nice to get into a game vs. another tradition filled program like Oklahoma or somebody like that.

Only If they beat Mizzou and Ohio St. loses to Mich. St and that is very possible.

I want a rematch with Auburn.  I would prefer Pasadena, but I will take New Orleans.

It is a long shot, but stranger things have happened.  I won't give up hope until the final BCS selection show.

I don't see Duke beating FSU with or without Winston, but I'm like you, I will be pulling for them and MSU with all of my being.
