Title: If there was a playoff this year,
Post by: hscoach on December 10, 2013, 11:30:17 AM
who would be in your top 4 or 8?

If there were only 4 team would you take the major conference winners?  Do they have to have a conference championship game to get in?  One possibility would be FSU-AU-MSU-Stanford.  Those are your major conference winners.

If I were picking, it would be what I think the 4 best teams are. I would have to go with:

1. FSU
2. Auburn
3. Alabama
4. MSU

It will be interesting to see how the committee will be picking the 4 teams next year. I think, Coach, that if the playoff started this year, and the committee picked the major conference winners, there would probably be a pretty good uprising among the masses.

FSU, Awbren, Alabama and Stanford

Probably will be general consensus on the top three but could be much debate on the last team in.  Don't know how this committee will evaluate strength of one conf vs another but that has to be a factor.

If I were picking this year, my 4th team would be Stanford over MSU.  Stanford just looks too big, strong and solid across the board.

If I were picking I'd go: 1 FSU vs. 4 Bama and 2 Auburn vs. 3 Stanford.

I'd put Bama at 4 only to avoid an all SEC (especially Alabama-Auburn) semi-final.

If Bama got in, we all know who the winner would be.    8)

it seems that everyone is discarding Baylor.

1. FSU
2. Auburn
3. Bama
4. Mich State

I think 1-3 is easy. I give Mich State the 4 spot over Baylor. Baylor was blown out by Okie State. Stanford is out due to 2 losses.

If you go to an eight team playoff this gets difficult. Especially when only two SEC teams can get it. South Carolina is a top 8 team IMO.

I still believe the right number is 6! 1 & 2 seed get a bye in first round (kind of a reward for finishing 1 & 2). Start plugging team in that formula and you have IMO:
1. Fl State - Bye (plays winner of 4 vs 5)
2. Auburn - Bye (plays winner of 3 vs 6)

#6 Baylor at #3 Alabama
#5 Stanford at #4 MSU

all major conference champions plus the best overall team included.

I know it wouldnt work that great every year but I think four is not enough and 8 is too many. Plus I like the 1 & 2 seed reward of a bye week.

Stanford is pretty good, but not good enough to play themselves, I don't think.  ???

I will put my money on Stanford that game.
