Title: AJ McCarron confident in Alabama's options at quarterback for 2014 and beyond
Post by: Jamos on December 12, 2013, 06:21:14 AM
There's been a lot of speculation about  who will be the heir to McCarron's throne next year, could AJ be trying to tell us something in this article?

McCarron said he hasn't thrown a pass since the Iron Bowl, as he's giving his sprained shoulder some much-needed rest. That's allowed the other quarterbacks to increase their repetitions whenever they've met since the Crimson Tide's regular season finale...

We're good until at least 2018.

Somewhat interesting to hear AJ say this about himself...

Quote
"You can't take any days off," he said. "When I leave, I think anybody will be able to tell you the amount of time I've put in to put up the stats I've put up over the three years. I think the hard work has paid off and I've deserved everything that I've got so far.

I don't have a problem with it because he is absolutely correct.  Just surprising to have it come from AJ himself... Very, VERY proud of his accomplishments the last few years and extremely thankfulfor what he has given to the Crimson Tide nation...

I think the QB spot will be wide open this spring with every one getting a chance. I think Luke Del Rio is the favorite at this point.

McCarron also had an optimistic take about Del Rio, who emerged as Alabama's third-string quarterback but was held off the field to maintain his redshirt status.

“I like Luke a lot," McCarron said in October. "I kind of mess with him. He’s always around me trying to learn everything. Sometimes you’ve got to try to hide from him, get away.

"He’s a really smart kid, throws a really good ball, and I think he’s going to be a heck of a player in the future. I really do."

If they all stay healthy, the competition will be fun to watch.

It will be fun to watch. We may not know who wins the job at the end of Spring practice but we should find out who is at the bottom. I look for one or two to transfer if they get beat out.

Maybe the sprain shoulder has something to do with under thrown balls.

If Auburn's lucky one of ours will get into legal trouble and transfer.

Well I think we are good past 2018 because CNS is not going to slow down recruiting. If their is a great QB out there he will find him. Also, if AJ is that happy with our guys for future then I am too. RTR!

I agree with this and one of them could be Sims if he doesn't get the favorble nod in the spring. ;)

You think Blake Sims would leave his Senior season?  He always seemed willing to do whatever was asked of him, even playing RB, without complaint.   :dunno:
