That sucks! Now OSU won't have anything to complain about, well, except for their next 7 years of impending doom.

Nope, they will find some type of excuse like:

The South has so many beautiful women that this causes more recruits to go to the SEC.

The SEC cheats in recruiting by winning so many National Championships and being more desirable to the recruits.

Those beautiful beaches, wide-open spaces, friendly folks, and low cost of living are an unfair inducement and should be banned by the NCAA.

Kickiing the crap out of Big Ten schools on a regular basis is giving the SEC an unfair advantage in recruiting. The NCAA should give extra points to the Big Ten teams for games against the SEC.

I agree. It's gonna end up biting the SEC in the arse.

So in other words the presidents of these institutions have basically told their coaches (all of which were against this idea, mind you) "You guys are not really bright enough to understand the intricacies of this 'problem' so let us solve it for you." I guess Bernie Machen is peeing himself he is so happy.

Why was Slive so insistent in lowering the numbers? When you look at the money that the SEC has made off of football the last 5 years, it is staggering. You never cut the hand off what feeds the face.

Why were the Presidents so intent on lowering the numbers?  ???

I think that the owners are mistakenly being pro-active, because they think the NZAA will eventually adopt that.

It is pretty dumb IMO for the league to make more restrictive rules than the NCAA.  If it is not an NCAA rule, then the rest of the teams outside the conference are not required to do it unless they happen to be in another conference with a similar rule.  There is no need to handicap your own conference.

SIAP. The actor James Arness (sp?) who played Marshall Dillon on Gunsmoke passed away today at age 88.

Presidents just bowed to pressure from the media and websites. This is typical of today's society we live in.

So, if I've got this right, some HS guys with marginal academics are gonna be told (pehaps by CNS) that "we can't offer you a scholly because we're not sure you're gonna qualify."  But what if the guy really wants to come to Bama?  Then I guess he'll have to walk-on with no scholly.  Meanwhile, suppose he actually does qualify?  I guess he has to wait a year to get his scholly.  Sure hope he's independently wealthy!!

What a mess.  Classic case of fixin' something that really wasn't broken.

Slive should run for Congress.  He'd fit right in.

All this is going to do is create more parody among college football teams. That's why the NFL ain't what it used to be. Seems this country is hell-bent on becoming the king of mediocrity.

I think like all things, the cream will still rise to the top. The SEC will still be the #1 football conference. Most of the good talent is in the South-Texas-California.

Should have changed it to 30 players per year and 100 player roster.
Look at all the kids the schools would be helping out with an education. How selfish of these SEC presidents.

'" All 12 of the league's coaches were also at the meetings this week and voted to keep the limit at 28 but were overturned by the presidents, who voted 12-0 in favor of the new rule."

I am almost amazed that DR. Whitt voted against CNS. Sounds like he wanted to be in with his counterparts. RTR!

Amen, bro. This whole "everybody has to be equal" idea is so preposterous. Not all schools or conferences are created equal. That's life. Try to make improvements in your area and not bring down others to your level.

Good point Ricky.
