"Edwards' defense team argues that the money didn't constitute campaign contributions because it was intended to hide the affair from his wife, Elizabeth, not to aid his campaign. Elizabeth Edwards died of cancer in December."

"Prosecutors said $725,000 from Mellon and $200,000 from Baron was used to pay for Hunter's living and medical expenses and for chartered airfare, luxury hotels and rental of a house in Santa Barbara, Calif., to keep her hidden from the public."



I could see using money to hide your pregnant girl friend. But $925,000.00 is a bit much.

Grand jury charged Edwards with 6 felony counts. 5 years plus fine of $250,000.00 each count. Campiagn finance fraud. FBI investigated him for over 2 years.

I hope he is found guilty. I am sure he would have been just what the country needed if elected.

He is one reason healthcare is so expensive. Edwards made his millions by suing doctors for hundreds of millions.

Wow! I hope he knows what he has really done after his wife is dead. Now is he going to marry the lady of the affair? RTR!

Edwards was/is super wealthy. Why didn't he just pay her out of his personal funds?

He is a greedy...  >:(

Maybe his deceased wife would have noticed, but I wouldn't think so.
