The No. 7 Alabama gymnastics team fell to No. 3 LSU by a score of 197.650-196.825 in front of 8,055 fans in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center Friday night.

"We had a good meet tonight," UA head coach Sarah Patterson said. "We're improving each week and this was a good road score, but you have to give credit to LSU, they are competing at a championship level right now."

It marks the first time Alabama has fallen to the Tigers during either the regular or postseason since Feb. 5, 2010 in a dual meet in Baton Rouge. It also marked the second year in a row that the Tide has drawn a large crowd in the PMAC. This year's total was the second largest in LSU history after last year's Tide and Tiger showdown drew a Tiger school record 8,574 fans.

"I hope our fans understand, we're going to be a great team," Patterson said. "We just have to continue to improve each week. LSU is in championship mode right now and they were the better team tonight, but we're getting better as we go along and building as we go along."

Tough loss for the ladies, but just get into the regionals, and who knows what can happen.
