Within a 24-hour stretch Tuesday and Wednesday, Nick Saban received three phone calls related to Rashaan Evans' impending decision to sign with Alabama.

The first two were from Evans himself, one coming sometime Tuesday and the other on Wednesday morning.

"I felt really good about where we were with him and his decision making," Saban said, "and that he would come to the University of Alabama."

The third came from Evans' top unofficial recruiter, Reuben Foster, who made the identical decision one year earlier to spurn hometown Auburn in favor of the Crimson Tide. It came moments after Evans announced his surprising decision on national TV and put a cherry on top of Alabama's top-ranked class of 2014.

The sophomore linebacker was looking for some credit. Or at least an "attaboy."

"Reuben Foster called me," Saban said with a smirk at Wednesday's National Signing Day press conference, "and absolutely said that he was a much better recruiter than I was and he was really responsible for that." ...
