Title: Alabama v. Texas A&M Basketball Tonight
Post by: Marshal Dillon on February 20, 2014, 02:56:12 PM
We play tonight at 6 pm on ESPN 2. Any comments about how we get over the loss of Jacobs? Does Taylor play 28-32 minutes? Do we end up playing Hale at the post, too? Some guys really need to step up, like Cooper hitting some outside shots, Levi scoring and rebounding, along with Cooper. This is a winnable game.

 ???

I forgot all about Engstrom, good reminder. Yeah, he has to play more, too.

What has happened to Obasohan? He started out the year averaging 10-15 per game . His scoring has really dropped off.

Cooper, Randolph, Obasohan and Hale have to give us some offense to have any chance. We will not get much from the bigs. Releford is very good but he can not do it by himself.

Excellent question. He is missing lay-ups and shooting like 30%.

Bobby Knight just said you need to spend 45 minutes a day with Taylor tipping the ball into the basket with his right hand. This after he missed 2 tip-in attempts. I wonder if our coaching staff is listening? 24-23 A&M. Now Knight explaining how the Tide big men could open up the passing lanes under the basket and help Releford.

3 straight turnovers to end the half for Bama. 24-23 Bama and it's high octane offense.

Sloppy game on both sides. Our three point shooting has kept us in the game. We need to play better in the second half to get out of College Station with a win.

Another SEC basement dweller.

Another halftime deficit.

This team always seems to crap its pants at the end of every half.

Funny how Knight always seems to have an opinion on Bama's inept coaching.  If only someone would listen.  Maybe they should hire him as a consultant.

He is able to point out deficiencies without any name calling. Very good analysis by Knight.

Tide steps up after Jacobs leaves team, gets crushed by A&M 63-51. As Knight said, Tide beat on both ends of the court.

I am glad these games are not on a station here so I have to watch them.  :wall:

When was the last time we had a losing record for the season? I know Wimp and Hobbs never had one, but did Gottfried?

You don't get ESPN2? Nearly all games are on ESPN3, that is how BAMAWV (RIP) used to watch a lot of the games.

Mark Gottfried had a losing record in 99-2000 (13-16, 6-10). Wimp had a losing recoed in 87-88 (14-17, 6-12). CM Newton had a losing record his first three years at Alabama. All three of these coaches responded well after the losing seasons. In all three cases some of the best basketball in our programs history followed the losing years.

I never think to check ESPN3. We do have ESPN2, but it is usually tilted to some ACC game I care nothing about.
