Title: Alabama at Ole Miss 7:00 ESPN3
Post by: pmull on February 26, 2014, 01:06:16 PM
Alabama (11-16 5-9) travels to Oxford, MS to play Ole Miss (16-11 7-7) at 7:00 tonight. The only TV coverage will be ESPN3.

Alabama beat Ole Miss 67-64 a few weeks ago in Tuscaloosa.

Can Alabama sweep the series and win the first road game of the year?

Can Levi Randolph follow up his 33 point night against Missouri with another good performance?

Can Alabama out rebound Ole Miss like they did in the first game?

I think it's a lot to ask for Bama to beat Ole Miss on the road. They couldn't even beat SC on the road. IMO, their only hope is to shoot early and often and feed whoever gets hot. Would love to see them play loose tonight.

The road has not been good to the Tide this year. However, Ole Miss is a winnable game. We out rebounded them 45-34 in the first game. We need to get some points from other players besides Releford. Randolph, Cooper and Hale need to have good nights.

I just don't know what to expect. I think we could win but we could get blown out. It has been that kind of year.

I think Ole Miss will be loaded for bear after losing to us. Also, their chances of making the NCAA Tourney are slipping away and are probably gone if they lose to us, again. I expect a very animated and pumped Henderson tonight. Levi Randolph is another mystery which will be answered tonight. Has he a newfound confidence or was it a fluke? I am very interested in watching the game or I should say listening to it on the radio.

We have 3 games left, two at home. Arkansas & Auburn, 2 teams we can beat. The other game is Kentucky away, a lost cause.

A disappointing loss at Ole Miss but all things considered it was expected.

We got good production from Hale 27, Releford 16 and Randolph 13. Good teams put 5 players on the floor who can all score. We don't have that. We got 11 points total from the other 6 players who played in the game. Cooper got 6 of those. Hale had a great night. He scored 27 points and 9 rebounds. Randolph had 13 to follow up his 33 in the Missouri game. Randolph should be scoring in double figures every game.

I said going into the game rebounding was the key. We out rebounded them in Tuscaloosa when and we won. We got killed on the boards last night. We were out rebounded 42-24. Offense rebounds 17-7. Ole Miss out scored us in the paint 30-22 and second chance points 21-8. In order for us to get better we have to have find a dominate inside player. We must rebound, score and defend better in the post if we want to reach our goal of consistent NCAA appearances.

Auburn comes to town Saturday. Not much on the line but it is a big game for us just because it is the boogers.

To CAG and the players credit the team has not quit. They play hard even in defeat. The minute the team quits the coach has to go. So far that has not happened.

A followup to my post:

Quote
A record-low 4,434 fans watched the foul-heavy game at Auburn Arena. It's the smallest crowd to watch an SEC game in the four-year history of the venue.

Auburn coach Tony Barbee, who is 48-72 in four seasons, did not have much to say about the crowd.
