Title: SEC Tourney Seedings
Post by: Marshal Dillon on March 05, 2014, 07:58:10 PM
As of today, Alabama would play Miss. State on Wednesday March 12 in the first round. If we won we would play Texas A&M. Both teams are very beatable. Barn would play USC. Right now, Tennessee is killing Barn at the half 42-18. Barbee is toast.

We have the best possible bracket (as long as things don't change) that we could ask for.  Miss St, aTm, UK.....anybody but UF until the championship game.
Crap, now you got me thinking we could make a run.....

Don't get too giddy on me. A&M is playing better and UK is still no easy game for us. We will be playing on a "neutral" court, but of course tons of UK fans will be there. Arkansas & Tennessee have really come on strong the last few weeks of the season and will probably make the NCAA Tourney. We have ZERO chance against Florida, they will probably win the SEC & NCAA Tourney. Still, we could make it interesting.

We are playing hard and if our shots are falling we can be a tough out for anyone except UF. I think UF is real good. It would be nice to win a few games and ease the pain of this season just a little. As it stands now it is about as good a draw as we could hope for.

No doubt the draw is very good for us. I wonder how the final game of the season for everyone might change it.

If we lose to Arky and the barn beats A&M we lose the tie breaker and go to the other (tougher) side of the bracket. If we win or the barn loses everything stays the same.

There may be a possibility of us getting the 10th seed and a first round bye. That would require Vandy to lose to LSU tonight and lose this weekend and us beat Arky.  I think we win that tie breaker since we won the only head-to-head game. I would prefer to play a winnable game in round 1 than get a bye.

I'm not sure this isn't one of those years where you'd  just want to draw UF first and get it over with. Best case scenario is that lightning would strike, we'd win the SEC tournament, have to live through a week of every BB analyst in the country pointing out the obvious -  that we have no business in the tourney with our record, and then getting beat in the first round.

I am ready to move on to sunny afternoons at the baseball stadium.

Best wishes,

Eor

I don't think the Barn beats A&M at their place. LSU is at Vandy, but Vandy is playing with 7 players. Arkansas is hot and vastly improved over the season, so I expect them to beat the Tide at our home.

As much as I would love for the misery to end quickly, I'd like to see them go as far as they can, to salvage what little bit of confidence that they can. Might help for next year.

Never give up! I don't think we have a chance to win the SEC Tournament but it sure would be fun if we did.

I think Auburn is done. Their team has give up. A&M will beat them badly.

Vandy sits 7-9 with two games left. LSU at home and Ole Miss on the road. Vandy may lose both.

We are 6-11 with Arkansas at home. This could go either way. We are a decent team at home but the Hogs are playing well. This could go either way.

Barbee is dead man walking at Auburn. Remember all the hype about him? Wow.

Well, the first part of this equation happened. LSU beat Vandy tonight 57-51.

Incredible. Vandy was beating their pants off in the first half and had a 16 point lead. Then, LSU got it together and won the game.

Vandy was playing short handed and I think it took it's toll on them. They looked tired in the 2nd half.

In our situation I think we are better off with the 11 seed than the 10. The 10 seed gets a first round bye. We need to get a win or two and that will be easier without the bye. If we can beat a very hot Arkansas team at home and win two in the tourny it will not ease the pain of this season but it will give us something to build on next year.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking during the game but LSU hit high gear in thee 1st half and continued into the 2nd half. No doubt playing with 7 players impacts your team. Stallings is a good BB coach and I will be interested how he responds during the offseason and the next BB season.
