Title: Alabama Women's BB in SEC Tourney Post by: Marshal Dillon on March 06, 2014, 07:33:58 PM The women got walloped by LSU 78-65. I was afraid of that since we had just hammered LSU, this was get back for them. Still, the future for Tide Women's BB looks great due to solid coaching.

We only lose one senior. Coach Curry has some good recruits and transfers coming in. This program is headed in the right direction for the first time in years. Strange how the program went & stayed mediocre for 20 years isn't it? I don't understand how it was a allowed to happen. ??? Rick Moody had a run of 8 straight NCAA Tournaments that included 4 Sweet 16's and one Final Four. Our last NCAA appearance was in the 98-99 season. Moody's program began to slip after 1999 and has not been competitive since. It will be interesting to see how much improvement Coach Curry can make between year one and year two. This is what I am always harping about. Yes, he did good for a number of years, but then he got complacent and the program fell apart. He was given a 6 year free ride after the success before he "retired," which I credit the AD for getting him out of there. No way we should have waited so long, 4 years tops, maybe less, since you could see the program slipping a little bit every year after the initial big success. Either you want to win and have a successful program or you want to waste time and money on a coach who is non-performing or just going through the motions, like Gottfried & Moody and the baseball coach before Wells. :popcorn2: :deadhorse: |
