Title: Baseball: Mississippi Valley At Alabama

Alabama beat Miss Valley 8-0 in the Friday night opener of a three game series. Spencer Turnbull (7 innings, 3 hits) got the win. Miss Valley is 0-13 on the year. Alabama is 7-5.

Miss Valley  0 5 1
Alabama      8 9 0

They play game 2 at 2:05 today.

I hope this series becomes a morale and confidence booster, which it should, if they sweep. I would be disappointed if they didn't.

Alabama got 2 runs on 3 hits in B1 to take a 2-0. Justin Kamplain pitching for Bama.

Bama leads 7-0. MV batting in the 8th.

Kamplain pitched 7 innings of no hit ball. He had 12 K,s and 2 walks. Jay shaw has come in to pitch the 8th.

Alabama gets the sweep with a 3-0 win. Miss Valley did nor score a run in any of the three games. Of course Miss Valley is 0-16.

Miss Valley   0 3 1
Alabama      3 8 0

John Keller got the win.

Alabama improves to 9-5 on the year. We play Samford at home on Tuesday. We open SEC play in Tuscaloosa next Friday against Kentucky.

The bats didn't exactly beat MV to death, but you've got to give credit to the pitching. It's not often you get a series sweep, all by shutouts and one of them a no hitter. I hope this is a jump start to a good run.

We have a 5 game winning streak. The first two games of that streak were LA Lafayette and Auburn which were good wins. We need to keep it up and get off to a good start in SEC play.
