Nick Eicholtz kept Alabama's shutout streak rolling long enough to dodge the rain and give his offense plenty of opportunities to pound away at Samford's pitchers.

The freshman faced the minimum number of batters through six innings, allowed just three hits and struck out 12 in his first career victory. By the time Alabama pitching's streak of 37 scoreless innings came to an end in the seventh, the Crimson Tide had already tattooed the Bulldogs for double-digit runs in Tuesday's 12-1 victory.

The win was Alabama's sixth in a row in a streak that has seen the Crimson Tide surrender just 10 runs. It snapped the nine-game win streak Samford (11-5) held before it was stymied by Eicholtz.

WOOOT!!!  :jump:

Looks like maybe things are coming together for them. That's 1 run the pitching staff has given up in the last 4 games. Also, the bats are starting to come around.

It wasn't that long ago that there was a lot of grumbling about the baseball coach.  They made some progress last year and it looks like they are going to continue building on that success this year.

The pitching and defense is strong as expected. The games we have lost we scored 1 run or none. When we score three runs or more we are 10-0. If the pitching can get some offensive help we could have a very good year.

The SEC opens up this weekend. We host # 23 Kentucky. We will find out a lot about our team in this series.
