Title: Alabama Softball Beat Mississippi Valley State 12-0

Alabama beat Miss Valley State 12-0 in 5 innings. Bama scored 12 runs on 8 hits. Leslie Jury got the win pitching a 1 hit shutout. She struck out 9 and walked 3.

Alabama (21-4) earned eight hits, with Kaila Hunt going 3-3 to extend her current reached-base streak to 19 games. Chandler Dare drove in a team-leading three RBI, including a two-run triple in the second inning. Leslie Jury (9-2) went the distance in the circle, throwing her sixth shutout of the season with a season-high nine strikeouts.

Mississippi Valley State (2-18) earned one hit in the first inning and drew three walks, which accounted for their entire offensive effort. Starter Tenna Patterson (1-7) lasted three innings in the circle, allowing eight runs, six earned, in the loss.

I would say that the ladies are starting to hit their stride as well.

It seems that our ladies are making 1 or 2 errors each game.  I would like to see that drop to 1 or 2 every few games instead.  That may  not be accurate though, just the way it seems to me...

Errors are never good and can lead to big innings but we are not as bad as you think. We have made 22 errors in 24 games. Less than one per game is pretty good in softball with short base paths and hurried throws.

I am more concerned about walks. We have walked 118 batters. That is almost 5 per game. Our pitching in general is a concern. Traina is not the dominate pitcher she was her sophomore year. We can out score most teams but without better pitching we will struggle with the elite teams.
