Title: CECIL HURT: Fans of the 'committee' may be getting nervous by now

The old formula that was used to select two teams could just as easily be used for four or eight or 64.

But lots of people across the country did not like it and, if you want the truth, here is the reason why: They thought that the Southeastern Conference had cracked the code and found a way to game the system, with the list of grievances ranging far beyond the SEC rematch after the 2011 season (although that topped the list).

So that system had to go, replaced with a committee that would keep the SEC in its place. That doesn’t mean banished completely — it is going to be a rare year when the SEC champion doesn’t make the cut — but limited to just that one team.

Now, with committee chairman Jeff Long talking about a weekly “poll” in which teams can arbitrarily jump from seventh one week to third the next, then back to seventh — all without losing — and then saying that the goal is not to pick “the most deserving teams” but “the best teams” (excuse me?) — suddenly the committee fans have started getting nervous.

I agree.  Unless all of the top non-SEC teams lose the final week, the SECCG will decide our only team among the 4 finalists.
That's what I expect; at least during Year 1.
