Title: Softball Set to Close Out Regular Season at Missouri
Post by: pmull on May 01, 2014, 03:22:54 PM
The three game series with Missouri starts tonight. The game will be on ESPN at 7:00.

Alabama has already secured a tie for SEC regular season championship. They need one win in this series to win the SEC outright.

Traina goes for win #100 tonight. Only Shelley Laird (115) and Kelsi Dunne (113) have won 100 games for Alabama. Only seven SEC players have done it with Dunne being the most recent.

Quote
This weekend, Alabama (42-9, 17-4 SEC) concludes the regular season with its first-ever road trip to Columbia, Mo., to face the Missouri Tigers (40-13, 14-7 SEC). Game one is set for a 7 p.m. CT start on Thursday, May 1 and will be broadcast live on ESPN. Game two is at 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday, May 2 and Game three is at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, May 3 and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Bama (Kallie Case) hit a grand slam in the 5th inning to take a 6-5 lead.

Mizzou has a big 6th inning to take an 8-6 lead.  That's the final score.

Mizzou hit Traina hard last night.

We made too many errors and Missouri's speed made us pay.

Well the Tidettes will have another chance in the playoffs. We always put the pressure on them to win. I just hope in the playoffs they just come together and have fun, win, lose or draw. RTR!

Defense needs to back Traina up!

I've liked her a lot since her first game pitched. She has a lot of poise and isn't afraid to challenge the batters. I think this young lady will have a wonderful career before she graduates. I hate it for Jury but Littlejohn earned this start tonight and responded. I know some Bama coaches who are feeling a lot better right now.  ;)

Yeah, I had high hopes for Jury based on the way she started the season, but she has just not been consistent and still had control issues.  I hope she works all that out and comes back strong next year.  We need her to have the depth we need at pitching.

I am glad to get this win, sole SEC regular season championship and SEC Tourney # 1 seed. Missouri is a tough out out.

Great game by Littlejohn. We will need her the rest of this year if we want to reach our goals. Like everyone else I feel bad for Jury but she has been given many chances to succeed and she did not take advantage. The coaching staff has to put the best players on the field and Littlejohn earned her chance to get the start and took advantage of her opportunity.

Bama wins 2-0 today behind a very good pitching performance by Leslie Jury. Had it not been for shoddy defense again, I think Jury could have pitched a complete game. Littlejohn relieved her with one out in the 6th and pitched the rest of the way for the Bama win. Mizzou had the tying/winning runs on base in both the 6th and 7th innings but Littlejohn did a very good job in relief. Bama left a lot of runners on base again today, they need to work on their hitting with tournament time coming up.

Kudos to Leslie Jury today, a job well done. #+

The SEC tournament begins next Wednesday at South Carolina.

Nice finish to a very good regular season. It was good to see Jury pitch a good game. I am also glad senior Jordan Patterson got to catch.
