Title: Saying goodbye to a beloved pet Post by: Jamos on May 03, 2014, 09:47:57 PM I found this article in today's Tuscaloosa News and wanted to share it with any of you that have or have had pets. It really hit home with Mrs. J and me as we have had many pets over our 49 years together and saying goodbye to a pet is tough. I would always say that we wouldn't have another pet after losing one because of the sadness of losing one, but we always went and got another. It's a shame their life span is so short. :(

Title: Re: Saying goodbye to a beloved pet Post by: 2Stater on May 04, 2014, 06:53:30 AM We quit having pets when the girls grew up, because when they die, it is literally like losing a family member. But now the girls all have dogs, and they might as well be ours. When my youngest daughter's beloved "Gracie" was killed by a car, it crushed all of us.
Good article. Thanks for posting, J. Title: Re: Saying goodbye to a beloved pet Post by: XBAMA on May 04, 2014, 09:36:38 AM so , as I'm driving home Thursday and almost to the house
up on the main road I see a dog on the left side that looks like our Beagle , Shiloh as I get closer I realize three things rather suddenly the dog looks exactly like our Shi Shi , was just hit by a car and this Beagle is dead ! I slam on brakes to look at the dog closer almost cause a wreck there is no where to pull off the road until you get to our turn in so I go on home to make the turn around to go back something tells me to check to see if Shi is in his garage I was freaking out a little when finally after calling his name three or four times his fat butt waddles out of the garage talk about glad to see my friend , there are no words :worship: great story J ! thanks ! Title: Re: Saying goodbye to a beloved pet Post by: Leewillie on August 12, 2014, 04:43:36 PM I changed my avatar a couple of years ago when our Border Collie was diagnosed with cancer. We lost her last week, she was nearly 15 years old. She brought lots of joy and happiness to our house.

Just like a family member, you never get quite over it. I have lost a few from childhood on. So glad it wasn't your little doggie xbama. A couple of years ago, I was a few blocks from my son's house and saw a run over tabby cat that was obviously his beloved cat Petey Boy. I stopped the car, ran out onto the highway and picked up the dead cat that was kind of stiff. I carried him in my arms into my son's house and heard.... "MOM...what are you doing?? That is so gross! And there was Petey Boy lying in the window as usual. So I took the poor thing and buried him in the back yard. We once had a Border Collie, "Dirty Harry", and he was our grandkids favorite toy. :( Title: Re: Saying goodbye to a beloved pet Post by: 2Stater on August 12, 2014, 08:45:54 PM Prayers to all who have recently lost their beloved pets, Breddy included.

Man it hurt so bad, you say everytime one died we well that is it. No more animals for us cause it hurt to bad. We now have a German Shepherd and he has our heart as bad the little ones did before. It don't matter, if it is big or little dog, if you have a heart for animals then you will get another one. This pertains to adoption also. RTR! Title: Re: Saying goodbye to a beloved pet Post by: N.AL-Tider on August 14, 2014, 04:31:38 PM We lost our Pitbull/Chow mix two years ago...on his 14th birthday... Think about getting another pet from time to time but then think about how Jonas was rarely ever shown any attention by the kids and just don't feel up to putting another dog through that...
