Title: Tonight's NBA Draft Features Blind-Side Type of Story and No Alabama Players Post by: Marshal Dillon on June 23, 2011, 12:59:38 PM Excellent story. There are still plenty of good people around.
When Marquette guard Jimmy Butler hears his name called in tonight's NBA draft, it will mark the completion of a journey that almost no one thought was possible. Certainly not Butler's mother, who kicked Jimmy out of their Tombull, Texas, house when he was all of 13 years old. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/06/tonights_nba_draft_features_bl.html Title: Re: Tonight's NBA Draft Features Blind-Side Type of Story and No Alabama Players Post by: BAMAWV on June 23, 2011, 01:39:15 PM Quote •In the second video below, Kevin Scarbinsky and Doug Segrest talk about the 10-year drought of Alabama or Auburn basketball players going in the first round of the NBA draft, and how Anthony Grant and Tony Barbee can snap that trend. This problem was addressed by the U of A hiring of CAG. There is plenty of in-state talent, but the good ones have been snatched up by our competition. This trend is already being reversed. For sports trivia buffs, the last player from an in-state college to be drafted in the first round was Alabama's Gerald Wallace back in 2001. I refuse to think about Mitchell or Releford leaving next year, because I want them to stay and it scares me.
