Title: K Drake Arrested
Post by: McBaman on July 05, 2014, 09:29:19 AM
Didn't see this posted so I'll put it up:

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/07/alabama_running_back_kenyan_dr.html

Seems to me this guy is getting pretty close to the edge.  More trouble than he's worth?  Maybe not yet but at some point.....

 :( :(

This may solve the 'fumble problem' he has developed.   :-\

He was apparently trying to intervene in a shooting that occurred in Temerson Sqr in T-Town early this morning. Let's hop the unidentified victim of the shooting doesn't turn out to be a player.

if you are a player for UA
you walk in a bar
the bouncers are wearing side arms and kevlar vest

Is he really that stupid? Entering a crime scene could contaminate evidence.

This is beyond stupid. It takes a REALLY special brand of stupid to do something like this.

Cecil's first tweet was classic:

Quote
No details yet, but Kenyan Drake was already in a four-bedroom doghouse and didn't need to add a patio.

Why can't people just follow orders, especially when it's a policeman. :dunno:

Now we understand why Drake has been a semi-permanent resident of Saban's doghouse.

Cecil hurt was dead on in his article about the doghouse and with Drake's future at Bama. This isn't a serious charge against him but yet it is another instance where he made a bad decision and did the wrong thing. It's a shame he can't seem to get on track with the process because he has tons of football playing abilities that could make him a very wealthy person down the road.

I guess I will offer a different perspective -

I'm beginning to feel bad for some of these guys.  Kid does something a little stupid, doesn't maliciously hurt anyone, and now there are people all over the state talking about him, many of them dragging his name through the mud before ever knowing the details.  Also, IMO, a Class A misdemeanor charge is ridiculous, and I'd be shocked if he's convicted.  Most likely it was a case of the police charging him with as much as they could.  It will probably be pled down.

I appreciate very much the job that policemen do in our society.  I have a good long-time friend and a family member who wear the badge.  However, I also know that their are policemen who are dicks just like there are dicks in every other vocation.  It seems that the Tuscaloosa PD is starting develop a chip on their shoulder about athletes (see Tony Brown's incident earlier this year where on-site video made the cop look like the agressor).  Maybe an older person or just an average student wouldn't have been arrested...just throwing that out there with admittingly no proof.

I'd be shocked if there is anyone posting on this forum that didn't do something dumber than this when we were Kenyan's age.  Perhaps it we weren't arrested for it like he was.  I certainly know I have been guilty of worse lapses in judgment.  Kenyan isn't a bad kid, just has a little growing up to do.  That's to be expected as a college sophomore.

the only problem I have with Drake is that he was at/near Kenndy's
everyone knows the rep there is bad ...

IMHO ... they need to close that crap hole

There are lots of nice places around Temerson square - bars and restaurants alike.  I don't think his car being parked in that area is necessarily an issue.  I've parked there, and I've never even heard of Kennedy's.

Also, Kenyan wasn't drinking or he would've been charged for that too.

Time to be shocked then Dr.  When I was that age if I had done something like that my dad would have been guilty of a serious felony and I would have been buried 2 days later...  :-[

I know you're a good fella, NALT.  Better than most.  I will just say that dumb decisions aren't limited to legal trouble or whatever.  A parent should take it seriously, but it's not something half the state should be talking about for a week either.

At the age of 21, I was in the Army and did not even drink even after being in the Army 3 years. I did crazy things like hang out with good people, read books, hike in the woods, & other things less exciting than hanging out at a thug joint and looking for trouble with the police. I know, I'm a bore.

Kennedy's use to be a pool hall , maybe you remember it like that

the people I know won't even walk by the place any more
I'm told they have armed kevlar vested guards  it's so bad

not a good place for a UA player to be for sure

I'm sure that I was an Alabama student at age 21, but I have no memory of it.

Kennedy's?  No.
I remember the Chukker... vaguely.

To me Drake is 21 going on 16. This young man has a chance to put a lot of money and a good education in his pocket but so far his choices in life has put those two things on hold. Surely he can see what it takes of him to make all of this possible and surely he will change, but then maybe he won't. :(

The following falls into the category of "hopeium"... but maybe KD needs some event in his life to shake him enough to get him to focus on how his decisions (very broadly defined) are affecting his life currently and in the future.  Want to say on the team and play...then cut out the crap and get your sheet together.  Want to play in the NFL...then stop fumbling.  No more excuses.  It's results that matter.

I hope he has comes out of this with an attitude adjustment that's productive.

But that's hopeium.  We'll see.

At this rate KD might get passed up on the depth chart. Aside from trouble, he may lose playing time.
