At the 10th hole, Rory and Bubba both hit 300+ yard drives, then Rory pulled a hook OB.  He got a double bogey (-1 now).

Bubba flew the green, had a great recovery, but missed the birdie.

Dufner, the defending PGA Chump, withdrew.

In looking at the scores from yesterday, there were some good scores from the big name players. I'm anxious to see what happens today though, that sets the table for this weekend.

John Daly was +5 and Tiger was +3.
The TV showed them laughing and chatting in the parking lot as their clubs were loaded.
Doesn't look like either of them will compete this weekend (ever again?).
Daly is such a talent wasted.  Tiger too.

This is looking like a Rory runaway.  His -5 was only limited by an errant tee shot on #10 that was OB.  Otherwise he would lead the field.  Almost every tee shot was 310-315 yards in the fairway.  His irons are dead-on, and his putting is great.  How can he lose??  It appears that he'll win by 4-5 shots.

2nd pacle?  Maybe Bubba, but he had too many loose shots thus far.  Maybe Lee Westwood or Furyk.  Westwood has a career of being the bridesmaid.  :lol2:

My long shot is Chris Wood. Nobody has ever heard of him and he has quietly played some good golf lately. Look out for Ricky Fowler, too.

Good call on Fowler.  He's due a big win.

Rory is definitely on fire. Hard to pull against him. I wouldn't count out "Money" Jim, either.

Westwood won't be able to keep up the putting. Bubba is just hitting too many loose shots these days. I don't see him winning, although I'd pull for him.

Today is a critical day for Phil. If he plays well, he could make a run and I think he has a good shot. If he falters, he's done.

I'm pulling for Chris Wood to make the weekend.  :lol2:

16th in the rain:

Rory and Bubba hit fairway. Kaymer right on margin of 1st cut.

Rory within 9' for birdie; Kaymer missed green;
Bubba missed the green, then said to his caddie: "I got nothing, man.  I can't play golf in this [RAIN]."

Bubba changed gloves, but has no grip it seems.  He slammed his club into the ground.

Rory with a great drive and splashdown in the fairway.

*Bubba is pissed.  He may walk off or explode any minute.  The rain has him frustrated.  He usually is able to shape shots by using a tight grip.  He has no grip in the heavy rain, and is whining constantly.  Yikes.
Bubba missed the green.  Rory has a chance at a long birdie.

*Bubba scrambles well again for a par.  He gave a smile finally.

Bubba shouted: "Doesn't matter what I do, man.  Doesn't matter!"
His foot slipped and he failed to work the shot; missed the fairway badly, down into the water hazard.   :unsure:

*Bubba mishit (oops, miss hit) his 3rd shot (after a penalty).  He has melted down to a mess now.
His 5' putt was pulled too, and he made the first bogey of the day on the 18th hole!

Meanwhile, Rory sinks a 30' eagle: -8 now and leading the field!

In looking at the leaderboard tonight, the table has been set for one heck of a tournament. There's no telling who is going to win this thing.

It sounds as if the game is tightening up with a bunch of different players. I pull for the Alabama players were in school here so I only want then to make the big moves. RTR!

RAIN.  Chaac has delayed the tournament and flooded the fairways.

Now that play has resumed, the TV coverage is nothing but commercials and brief glimpses of the leaders in the clubhouse.

What a great golfer Rory is. He fell 3 shots down on the front 9 and has fought his way back to a 2 stroke lead going to 18.

Racing darkness and weather. It doesn't get any more intense than this.

Phil played his heart out. The bogie on 16 was the difference in coming in 2nd and going to a playoff. He has a great short game. He had Bones pulling flags on difficult chip shots because he thought he could hole it. He almost did.

Rory did what he had to do. He make a great putt on 17 that won the tournament for him.

Ricky Fowler will win a major soon. I really like his game and demeanor.

I said last Friday that the table was set for this to be one of the greatest golf tournaments in history and I think it lived up to it's billing. ;)

Maybe now the golf world will believe that golf can and will survive without T. Woods. :clap:

This was the most enjoyable major in several years.

Congrats to Rory.  I cheered for him, but hoped too that Phil could win just one more.  This may have been his last chance.

A lot of people played well, particularly Rory, Phil and Ricky. It made for a great tourney. Feherty, getting caught up in the great play, exclaimed "...and down the stretch they come!!!!!" It was indeed a battle of thoroughbreds.

In an interview last week, Rory said his success was due to breaking up with his fiancee.

He's been on fire ever since. If Tiger had done the same thing with his whor girlfriends, we'd probably still be talking about how great he is, too.
