"College football coaches around the country have embraced early enrollment for signees because it allows the new players to take part in spring drills and get a head start with conditioning and academics. But there's another reason early enrollment is all the rage -- it's a way around NCAA limitations on oversigning. The NCAA last year adopted an SEC rule prohibiting its Football Bowl Subdivision programs from signing more than 28 in a given class. The rule bolsters a provision already on the books allowing for only 25 incoming freshmen in a given class -- a number that does not account for academic non-qualifiers or signees who are asked to grayshirt and defer their enrollment. But two SEC schools signed more than the allotted 28 players this year: Arkansas (30) and South Carolina (32). I like the early admission, and hope they keep it. Incoming players need the academic help they get by starting in January. I think oversigning as long it's accepted for all schools is not wrong. RTR!
