Title: Fmr Gov. Riley punctures lung, breaks bones in motorcycle crash

Former Governor Bob Riley had a serious Motorcycle accident in Fairbanks, AK today. He is in ICU and expected to make a full recovery.

In other news, the new governor was on base today looking at the new ratheon site, which is right next to our shop.  It was a big fuss apparently.

In other news, the new governor was on base today looking at the new ratheon site, which is right next to our shop.  It was a big fuss apparently.

$70mil and 300 jobs, I believe is the estimate.  I think they're going to be making the Standard Missile 3 there, which is shot off ships for air/missile defense (Aegis system).  Very similar to PATRIOT but ship-based.

  It would be so nice if we could get industry like that here. Instead, we get retail and restaurants, keeps the pay scale down.

That typically describes the economy in the Shoals as well (where I grew up).  I think the blame lies largely with lack of convenient transportation (airport and interstate).  An interstate connecting Memphis and Atlanta that runs through the Shoals has been in discussion forever, but looks less likely with the redoing of US78 as I-22 between Birmingham and Memphis.
