What do you think about it?  Is anybody planning to switch over from Facebook to Google+?

I deleted my Facebook account several months ago because of privacy issues and because my "wall" was always filled with shallow, stupid comments and family pictures of people I didn't know or barely knew. 

I'm wondering if Google+ be any better?  ??? I use Google mail and Google services every day so the integration of all services should be great.

I thought you always enjoyed the family photos I've been posting on your wall?  ??? :(

Ward Beagle was a classmate of mine and it was his shirt.

Google+ has stopped sending out invites for the time being, btw.  I do love GMail, but I don't use any of their other services.

I've had a Facebook account since my days at UA ~10 years ago.  Back then it was a college only community - if you didn't have a valid email address with a .edu extension, then you could not form an account.

Now the whole online social networking craze annoys me.  I rarely get on Facebook because I can't stand to read everyone's status updates.  From the mundane "By the pool with the kids" or "Gotta run to town..." to the vague, I'm-begging-you-to-ask-me-what-I-mean posts like "I will get through this..." or "Can't believe it's going to end like this...", they all annoy me.

Maybe it's a personality flaw of mine though...

Facebook is the most virally infected web site on the innerwebs. I've never been on that web site because of that. I don't know about Google+, but Gmail is more secure than yahoo, hotmail and most other e-mail services. HTH.

Gmail has just announced a revamp to make their page less crowded. Should be good.

I use Firefox for browsing, and have rarely had an issue ( never more than a warning) with viruses etc. Firefox

I use Firefox as well. I find it to be much better than IE.

I had a friend who used Gmail on his laptop. He was in London and left his laptop in a taxi. He used his phone to email people to tell them he had lost his laptop.  When he flew back to the States he checked his Gmail account. He had new spam emails from companies wanting to sell him a new laptop.

He felt that Gmail (google) had looked at his emails and new he had lost his laptop. He said he felt a privancy issue from then on concerning his Gmail account.

It's well known that GMail scans emails for keywords and posts customized subject-driven ads.

Well, I just joined Facebook a couple of days ago.  I didn't mean to run everybody off.  I really have no interest in it, but I kept getting friend requests through my e-mail account from some guys I worked with down in Costa Rica.

Where have you been Coach? ???  Why don't you post much anymore?

I'm really busy these days.  I have a couple of different startup ventures going on top of my real job.  Hopefully something will take off and I can drop the real job some day.

Well, I'm sorry to hear this.  Did this venture not work out as you hoped (according to CrimsonFever we have about 10 regular posters) and you have gone on to other ventures that may turn out better?

Are you still minding the fort....or is Ssmithgeneral our leader ...or who is our leader....or are we leading ourselves?? ???

Coach - don't forget about the Crimson Red Sports FB page. Not much traffic or anything really going on there at the moment.  But I'm thinking once football season starts, it should get busier :)

Everything is going according to plan so far.  My stated goal when I launched the site was for it to pay for itself within the first year so that it isn't costing me anything to keep it going.  We are on track for that, maybe even a little bit ahead of schedule.  I bet we reach that goal in September when the season starts, about 6 months ahead of schedule.

The people here are great and don't really need any supervision, other than to keep an eye out for the occasional spammer or troll.  pmull is probably on here the most often to keep an eye on things these days.  The general will probably be back online more now that he is finishing up his work in Huntsville.  Terrie was pretty busy with work for a while too.  Chechem is back from the islands now, so he is on here a lot more these days.  It really is a group effort so that hopefully no one person is over burdened.  So I guess it would be fair to say that we are leading ourselves.

You can always send a PM or click on the report to moderator link if trouble shows up.  That will cause an e-mail to be sent out to all of the mods and hopefully one of us can get on here pretty quickly to see what is going on.

Coach.  Glad you are pleased with Crimson Red Sports and it is holding its own during the slow months.  The countdown for football season has begun.  :D


Now back to Google.   I am getting an invite to Google+ from a young college student (relative) who already has an account.  I'm pretty excited.

Coach I have said it before and I will say it again, I really appreciate all the hard work you have put into this, giving us TideSprotz refugees and some new comrades a place to come and share our love for the Tide. You have really out done yourself, and I think the fact that we have to have so little moderation is a testament to the character of people we have on here (yes, ever 2Stater, WV, and the general  :D ) Good job, my friend and to all the other posters on here for making this a great pacle to hang out in.
