Title: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 09:10:22 AM Good morning everyone.
Penn State 10, UCF 3 at halftime. ESPN2 Early kickoff because they're playing in Ireland. Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 09:23:00 AM Thanks to bama57's comment about Vandy/Franklin, I took another look at this game. Although UCF is the home team, I saw the game wasn't in hot South Florida (huge advantage UCF) but instead in cold Ireland (advantage PSU). Also, PSU has their QB returning... I knew UCF lost theirs to the NFL. So I switched my pick. Franklin, weather than experienced QB all favored PSU. Go Lions!

I just didn't think Penn State would be able to win this one and I stayed with UCF :-[(http://www.sports-king.com/images/articles/penn_state_cheerleaders.jpg) Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: bama57 on August 30, 2014, 09:39:20 AM Franklin and his staff have done a very good job preparing Penn State for this game!

Still a lot of playing time left. You didn't trust your instincts, but I did. I hope you were right.(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BwSxV9UCEAAh1XI.jpg) Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 09:46:10 AM Penn State adds a FG, UCF gets a TD. Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:20:36 AM 20-17 this game just turned around when UCF changed QB's Three straight turnovers. No one wants to win. :unsure:UCF ball on their 20 or so with 8: 30 left 3rd and 15. Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:23:08 AM UCF punts. Penn State ball with 8 minutes left.
The one point line was pretty accurate for this game. I like the games with lower point spreads, makes you pick the winner. Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:35:00 AM UCF drives down the field, sputters with first and goal (two QB runs and a pass), kicks a field goal. Penn State 23 UCF 17. 3:30 left, just enough time for UCF to score a TD and win the game (and match the spread).
Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:41:55 AM UCF 4th down and 10, going for it. This is the ball game.
COMPLETE! >:( It ain't over yet. Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:42:20 AM TD UCF!
Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: bama57 on August 30, 2014, 10:43:03 AM what a game
Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:44:40 AM Looks like PSU might lose this game, too many missed opportunities, FGs instead of TDs. (2 TDs, 3 FGs). Last drive play calling had me stumped. First and goal on the five, and two QB runs?
Anyway, game currently is a push, UCF up by 1, Penn State ball with a minute left. Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:46:05 AM what a game good way to start the day of college footballTitle: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:46:59 AM 3rd and 3 and PSU tries a deep bomb? who is calling the plays. get a first down first.
PSU gets first down on 4th. Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:47:50 AM 27 seconds left, PSU in UCF territory with all their timeouts.
Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:49:05 AM commentators grilling PSU on wasting 10 seconds and saving all their timeouts
Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:50:05 AM 9 seconds left, PSU now on UCF 20 yard line! #+
FG attempt for the win. Clock down to 3 seconds. PSU still wasted a lot of time. Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:51:27 AM SCORE!!

Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 10:58:30 AM I switched my pick from UCLA to VA this morning. I'm nervous about that pick. UVA is awful, but played well in their season opener v. BYU last year. Also, it's a home game for VA, with an early start, especially for a West Coast team. I'm hoping that UCLA comes out sluggish with the early start, and that the game stays close up to halftime. After that I need to hang out. Risky pick, I might have changed it back to UCLA if I had time, but the clock has run out for that. :tinfoil:

(Wish we had picked this game... although line might have been skewed once B. Miller went out.) Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: ricky023 on August 30, 2014, 12:10:14 PM I see a lot of funny things going on this morning or today. tosu is not the big bully they seemed to be. I kind of hope Mr. Gundy and his 40 can scare FSU tonight. I am thinking it is young in the day and teams have to get their game timing down. I really saw where the Jax St. Gamecocks got golly whopped last night. RTR!

UCLA 21 UVA 10 *I still think those two turnover scores will make the spread, but at least UVA is fighting. Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 12:34:28 PM Navy misses a short FG, still lead OSU, 7-6
Title: Re: Saturday Morning in the Game Thread Post by: Catch Prothro on August 30, 2014, 01:02:40 PM UVA's offense actually outgained and outscored UCLA's offense, which had only 136 yards in the first half.
