"Nobody seemed comfortable with Reuben and Reggie making the calls. That's not their fault," DePriest said. "They're young and inexperienced. They haven't ever been in the fire and played a fastball team. I don't blame that on them at all and I apologized to them for that."

The process of making up for it started Saturday, as DePriest swapped in for Foster and served as the lead voice of Alabama's defense in a 41-0 rout of Florida Atlantic.

"It feels great," DePriest said. "I wish I could have played in the first one. That is what it is. It's always great to come back after almost a year of not playing against another opponent."

Asked to divulge what he did to earn the NCAA suspension, DePriest said he didn't want to discuss it.

"I'm going to leave that where it's at," DePriest said. "I already apologized to my team and the defense about it. They forgave me." ...

Hopefully we have him starting the remainder of the games (AND PLAYING WELL).
