Title: Is Saban Grooming Kiffin to be His Replacement? Post by: bamaphil on September 08, 2014, 09:39:49 AM I get that feeling based on what I've seen in the first two games.
Discuss. :popcorn2: Title: Re: Is Saban Grooming Kiffin to be His Replacement? Post by: 2Stater on September 08, 2014, 09:41:20 AM I've thought that, too, and wondered how Kirby is feeling about now.
Title: Re: Is Saban Grooming Kiffin to be His Replacement? Post by: ricky023 on September 08, 2014, 09:45:03 AM LORDY NO! I pray he is not. CLK is a genius at offense but his Head Jobs have been a flop everywhere he went. I have nothing against coach but that is a scary thought. RTR!

CLK is a genius at offense but his Head Jobs have been a flop everywhere he went. I have nothing against coach but that is a scary thought. RTR! But... would an older, wiser, more mature Kiffin with 2-3 years under Saban's leadership be ready? I don't know. Here's what I see though: Saban insists on having Kiffin on the field. Saban seems...different. Calmer. Less intense. Content to let Kiffin do the yelling and screaming. Saban is the ultimate coach. He doesn't just coach the players, he coaches the coaches. Is he hovering around Kiffin because Kiffin's on a short leash or because he wants to evaluate Kiffin and coach him? Title: Re: Is Saban Grooming Kiffin to be His Replacement? I've thought the same thing!Title: Re: Is Saban Grooming Kiffin to be His Replacement? Post by: Catch Prothro on September 08, 2014, 11:09:55 AM I don't think Saban has burned a single calorie thinking about who will replace him. Correct. I think he trusts Kiffin to run the offense, and that has made his job easier. But Saban's only concern is winning. Kiffin is on the sidelines to help calm down Sims and to help Sims with decision making once a play is called -- not because Saban gives one whiff who will be Bama's next coach.Title: Re: Is Saban Grooming Kiffin to be His Replacement? Post by: McBaman on September 08, 2014, 12:17:26 PM OK so we've all seen CNS in the O sidelines huddle with Kiff. But is he also in the D huddle with Kirby? Has he always been there? TV never shows this 'cause it's not newsy. Sometimes they show CNS speaking to groups of players on the sideline, and maybe Kirby is there. Can't remember cause they don't show it a lot.
Can some of you guys who are at the games respond? Thanks. Title: Re: Is Saban Grooming Kiffin to be His Replacement? Post by: Old Tider on September 08, 2014, 12:45:40 PM Anybody want to go dig up our comments when Kiffin was at Tennessee?

Besides, that was a different guy. Our Coach is Lane Kiffin. The UT coach was Lame Kitten. Big difference. Title: Re: Is Saban Grooming Kiffin to be His Replacement? Post by: SUPERCOACH on September 08, 2014, 01:32:05 PM On a serious note, I do think getting fired at the airport at USC and having to find his own way home was a pretty humbling experience for him.

Post by: Jamos on September 08, 2014, 05:20:02 PM If Kiffen is still there 3 years from now you might be on to something but I'm like CP, CNS hasn't lost a wink of sleep thinking about who will replace him. ;)

You forgot to put in an opinion on a forum about who should determine who should play QB and whether anyone can question it or not. A fairly standard mistake. :lol2: :lol2: (For the humor impaired, this is intended to be HUMOROUS. Whether I succeeded in that goal is another argument.)
