Title: SMU player would not have hit the dog anyway!!
Post by: crimson13 on September 24, 2014, 07:11:47 AM
It is amazing how the media loves heroes.  So much that they will make one up if they need to.  Look at the video with an open mind and you will see:

#7 for SMU was pushed in the back by #8 for TAMU AFTER they were well out of bounds.
#7 would have avoided the dog anyway.  He had already started to plant his foot before the cadet made contact with him.
The cadet is to be commended for doing the right thing, and he would have kept the dog from getting stepped on, if #7 had been heading for the dog.  But, the cadet's actions did nothing to save the dog from injury.  Injury was not going to happen, even if the cadet had been at the concession stand getting a hot dog.
Everyone did their job, but the cadet is no more a hero than #7, who made a good effort to avoid contact after being pushed by TAMU's #8.  If they want to buy some boots for the cadet, #8 should probably be the one to pay for them.
The cadet should be glad they were not playing Miss. State.  He would have had a tough time keeping Mr. Day from stepping on the dog.  Good thing that Day is suspended for the TAMU game.
