Title: Arkansas preview discussion -- attention now on Razorbacks Post by: Chechem on October 09, 2014, 05:13:38 AM Quote The Tide rebounded from losses to SEC West rivals Texas A&M and LSU during their 2011 and 2012 national title runs, following them up with dominating wins to close the regular season. ''I think Alabama is a tough football team coming off a win or a loss,'' Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said. ''I did the research as well and realized they had not lost two conference games back to back since (Saban's) first year. ''Whatever it is, however it is, the one thing you see about Alabama is they stand the test of time and especially under Nick they are very, very good every game.'' The Razorbacks were pretty good in their last game, but couldn't win their fourth straight and fell 35-28 in overtime to then-No. 6 Texas A&M on Sept. 27 as their SEC losing streak reached 14. Arkansas is averaging 44.6 points, tied for seventh in the FBS. ''If we were regressing, or we weren't moving forward, if there weren't so many positive things, I think it would become a bigger issue than it was, or is,'' said Bielema, winless in the conference in his two seasons in Fayetteville. ''I know it's going to come to an end; it's just a matter of when it comes to an end is probably another question.'' https://sports.yahoo.com/news/alabama-arkansas-preview-165016468--ncaaf.html Title: Re: Arkansas preview discussion -- attention now on Razorbacks Post by: Chechem on October 09, 2014, 05:17:08 AM What is the key for an Alabama win?
Simple this week: stop the run! Can Alabama do it? Vegas thinks so: Point spread: The Crimson Tide opened as nine-point favorites for the Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium encounter. Alabama has out-gained every opponent this season by at least 73 yards and out-rushed each foe by at least 89 yards. On the season the Tide ranks third in the nation in both total defense and run defense, and, somewhat surprisingly, 10th in total offense. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2223228-alabama-crimson-tide-vs-arkansas-razorbacks-betting-odds-analysis-prediction Title: Re: Arkansas preview discussion -- attention now on Razorbacks Post by: Chechem on October 09, 2014, 05:19:43 AM Smart Pick
This will be an important test for Arkansas, and whether Bielema Ball can work in the SEC. The Hogs are also working off their bye week. But after losing last week Alabama might be seeing red heading into this one. So the pick here is with the Tide, on the road, giving 20 points less than it was in this spot last year. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2223228-alabama-crimson-tide-vs-arkansas-razorbacks-betting-odds-analysis-prediction Title: Re: Arkansas preview discussion -- attention now on Razorbacks Post by: Chechem on October 09, 2014, 05:21:56 AM (http://www.rantsports.com/ncaa-football/files/2014/10/Alabama.jpg)
Arkansas ranks just 72nd in the nation in points allowed per game while ranking near the bottom of the nation in total yards allowed per game with just over 403 per contest. Alabama is usually known for its defense and the 2014 version of the Crimson Tide are no different. Alabama ranks 12th in the nation in points allowed per game as well as third in the country in yards allowed per game, giving up about 265 per game. The Crimson Tide have been stellar against the run, allowing just about 60 yards per game on the ground. http://www.rantsports.com/ncaa-football/2014/10/08/alabama-vs-arkansas-game-preview-with-tv-schedule/ Title: Re: Arkansas preview discussion -- attention now on Razorbacks Post by: 2Stater on October 09, 2014, 07:18:24 AM I think we dominate from start to finish on this one. Coop will have a banner day, and the "D" will look much better this week.
Look to see improved play by OJ, the entire "O" line and Tony Brown. Title: Re: Arkansas preview discussion -- attention now on Razorbacks Post by: pmull on October 09, 2014, 10:07:16 AM I do not think Arkansas matches up good against us. They are getting better each week but they are one dimensional. Stop the run and you stop their offense.

Saban has always had a stop-the-run first defense, and Bama has the players to do it.Title: Re: Arkansas preview discussion -- attention now on Razorbacks Post by: Chechem on October 09, 2014, 01:24:25 PM Shirley we can stop the run. That's the one thing we've always been good at. Shirley.

I am not sure what the forecast is for Fayetteville, but the rain could be a factor. From what little I have seen from Ark, not a very potent passing game.
