Title: Kenyon Drake Post-Surgery Update (updated)
Post by: McBaman on October 09, 2014, 11:56:23 AM
I put a "?" in the title because this is not an update but a question:  Do we know any 'real' prognosis?  This posting was confusing to me:

http://www.alabamaintel.com/alabamaintel-exclusive-first-hand-report-kenyan-drakes-surgery-prognosis/

Another post on WA said something about the break (or was it only a bad fracture?) was high enough above the ankle, and enough beneath the knee, that KY would heal faster.

We all want KY to be OK.  But no real news is...well it's no news.

Hope it's OK to mention/link these other items.

From what I've read, and it seems like I've read in a few places, his ankle was dislocated, and his leg, near the ankle, is broken. Saban said he'll be out 8-10 weeks. My guess is longer.

I watched the press conference were Saban made that comment, and his exact quote was something along the lines of "can't even begin to think about playing football for 8-10 weeks", if I remember correctly.

That is encouraging from a fan's perspective.  However, I will personally continue to feel that his return is a looooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng ways away if ever...

I'll be very happy (for myself and for him) if he can play again EVER.

That was a frightening break.  I was worried that he'd never play.
Let's celebrate the good news and answers to prayers!

Thank you Jesus. Prayer works. I am not worried actually if he ever plays again, but only if he has full use to do his abilities in life. When he gets our age I can assure you that Arthur will visit him everyday. KD so proud to hear the news for you. Enjoy and be the man God made you. RTR!

You are correct SC. It will be 8 - 10 weeks before he can even think about playing football again. The dislocated ankle is what looked so bad on TV. CNS said that the break was similar to the break that Derrick Henry had. They put in screws in both sides of his leg to hold it all together, so it is not nowhere near bad as it looked and he should make a full recovery!! Roll Tide!!

It is perfectly fine to link other sites and forums on here.  I know that is probably unusual.  I know of one site in particular that has set their forum software to automatically replace links to here with a link to google.com.

The only caveat I have is to be sure to include a language warning if the site you are linking to has profanity.  The reason for that is that I want our site to be safe to read from work without getting into trouble with your company's IS department.  Any member who is concerned about that can simply wait until they get home to click on the link, if they so choose.

For that I really appreciate what you've done for all of us here...  #+

His rehabilitation has already begun, and he's anticipated to be "walking, jogging, doing some things" in six weeks. In eight to 10 weeks, he'll be "going full speed again."

This is "exceedingly abundantly" great news for KD.  When I saw his injury I flashed back to Prothro and couldn't help but think KD was done with football.  To go from that fear to what CNS said last night is huge.  If he's on the sidelines on Sat it will be an inspiration for the team.

Get well KD and RTR!!!

Looking forward, does KD have any chance of getting any medical redshirt time back?

Personally, I would not want him to try and play January 2015.

I agree if we can win without him or actually either way lose or win he needs to give this season up. Heal, laugh, enjoy some football on the tube or sidelines. Come back in the spring mad as a dog that just got whopped with a wet newspaper. RTR!
