Here are the No. 1 overall prospects during that stretch: Vince Young, Ernie Sims, Adrian Peterson, Derrick Williams, Percy Harvin, Jimmy Clausen, Terrelle Pryor, Bryce Brown, Ronald Powell and Jadeveon Clowney. All the players on that short list who have completed their college careers either made an All-America team, started for a team that reached a BCS game or were drafted in the first three rounds. But there also were plenty of players who didn't live up to expectations for one reason or another. I love having a recruiter like Saban. No doubt he's the best. So true. Andre Smith was the highest ranked prospect in link before Saban arrived. Truth is we were terrible because of all the sanctions and highly ranked prospects looked elsewhere and I can't blame them. That is what I remember as the 10 year dark period in Crimson Tide Football. 8) |
