Sorry, Preacher. Quote The chaplain for the University of Oklahoma football team was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly lured a man from his house by offering a bogus vehicle test drive and then stealing prescription medications while the man was gone. Kent Bowles, 45, of Norman, who also serves as regional representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a national sports ministry, was arrested on complaints of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, larceny, concealment of stolen property and obtaining cash or merchandise by bogus check or false pretenses..... :( Title: Re: "OU football chaplain arrested on drug, larceny charges" Post by: 2Stater on October 17, 2014, 02:49:19 PM Boy, you just can't trust anyone these days. :(
Title: Re: "OU football chaplain arrested on drug, larceny charges" Post by: pmull on October 17, 2014, 05:05:35 PM It is sad when things like this happen. A youth minister in Muscle Shoals was recently arrested for child abuse. Unfortunately it happens.
Ministers are not perfect and you should choose your pastor(s) carefully and hold them accountable. They have to preach from the Bible and not their own agenda. They also have to back up what they preach in their personal lives. I pray the God loving OU players and FCA members will not be affected by this man and will continue their walk with our Lord Jesus Christ. It's what I keep saying when people hold someone in what seems like too much esteem & almost in a worshipful manner, we are all human and fallible, not perfect. This is a betrayal to all the athletes and their supporters. We have to accept someone will always let you down, a friend, teacher, coach, pastor, etc. :( Title: Re: "OU football chaplain arrested on drug, larceny charges" Post by: bama57 on October 17, 2014, 06:25:20 PM It is sad when things like this happen. I hope they have adequate Christian counseling services that can help those kids through this. Title: Re: "OU football chaplain arrested on drug, larceny charges" Post by: Chechem on October 17, 2014, 06:49:29 PM We had a youth minister at our church who fell off the Christian wagon. While his wife was pregnant with their first child, he stole the money raised by the youth group. It was money raised for a scholarship in honor of a young man killed in a car crash. The minister took the money (~ $15,000 as I recall) to the casinos and spent it on gambling and .... on ladies who weren't ladies. BUT, because his wife was pregnant, they didn't have him arrested; rather he left quietly and was given some travel money. His wife went with him! :dunno:
My vote didn't count. I'm not that forgiving. :-[ Title: Re: "OU football chaplain arrested on drug, larceny charges" Post by: 2Stater on October 17, 2014, 06:55:39 PM We had a youth minister at our church who fell off the Christian wagon. I don't know how those people live with themselves. I had a best friend in the Army, he was like a brother, maybe more than a brother, and he really let me down. It was disappointing. One or two other cases but I had to accept the idea that people will let you down, because humans are that way. I always wanted to assume the best in people but it's not always possible. Plus, in my line of work I had to be cynical and expect that most people were lying to me. I was reading this and it breaks my heart and makes me sick to my stomach. I am really sorry to hear this but these preachers have to answer standing before GOD for what they do. YES, I am a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I could never explain how I hurt when one person hurts another especially a preacher.
I saw somebody say that you have to watch a Pastor who preaches his on agenda. I agree with that also. I can not preach my agenda I don't have one. I can not SAVE anybody, and I only preach what is between GENESIS 1:1 and REVELATION 22:21. I have the fear of GOD in me. Why? Because he can take my name out of the Book of Life. I again say to you all how heart broken I am. I am here to try and answer anyone's questions if I can. I will say this, I might have to get back to you on something but it will be Biblical when I give you the answer and where you can find it. People see this and they think Jesus is not real and such. My mind is frightened because it could cause somebody to fail to believe what Gods' Word says. They wind up going to Hell because they reject him. Lordy this scares me. I do apologize from my heart for what is posted but I can say to you all: There are great Godly Ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Agape love to you all. AMEN RTR! Title: Re: "OU football chaplain arrested on drug, larceny charges" Post by: Chechem on October 18, 2014, 06:33:42 AM No need to take this on your shoulders, Ricky. You're our minister, and that's that.
Meanwhile, you just take care of Miss Dottie, and keep all of us in your prayers. Nothing else is needed! University people that have to explain this to those students who may have taken a really bad very toward God our father and his son, JESUS the CHRIST. They have a lot of work and I have to say I pray for the soul of this preacher because he is going to be judged not by us but at the Judgement Throne of GOD. RTR!
