Title: Former Georgia coach Jim Donnan accused in Ponzi scheme
Post by: pmull on July 16, 2011, 05:36:08 PM
This is weird. I always liked Donnan on ESPN. He calls in to the Finbaum show during the FB season and he is very knowledgable. Does anything good happen in WV? :-\

Former University of Georgia football coach and ex-ESPN college football analyst Jim Donnan has been accused of making millions of dollars from a Ponzi scheme that also enriched his three children and their spouses, according to documents filed in an Ohio bankruptcy case.

The federal court documents, filed Thursday, are part of a larger bankruptcy case involving West Virginia-based company GLC Ltd.

"Formed in March 2004, GLC Enterprises, as it was known then, attracted investments from several high-profile figures from the world of sport. Among them are former University of Oklahoma and Dallas Cowboys coach Barry Switzer; Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer; Texas State football coach Dennis Franchione; and Texas Tech football coach Tommy Tuberville."

Coach Donnan was a former coach of Marshall, where the woman was a cheerleader, so that is my disclaimer. But he was a good coach, a good broadcaster, and I too enjoy(ed) his weekly calls to PF.   He has never personally tried to rip me off, even though he was born in South Carolina.

As far as WV goes, you have two options, dig coal or rip head coaches off in ponzi schemes. I hope CJD did not chose the later.

I always wondered why he never got back into coaching, but from what is in this report, coaching didn't pay enough.

I wonder if Donnan will be on Finebaum to give financial advice?    :o
